This is by far the most annoying and ignorant developer complaint ever. I'd be willing to bet my life's savings that most developers are not lazy, just overworked, stifled creatively, and given ridiculous deadlines that they can't hope to match. I highly highly doubt their "problems"...

    Halo 4

Can't say I agree at all. There's no areas in Halo 4 that stick out as memorable to me. Nothing like the single Scarab fight or dual Scarab fight in 3, the last level in 3 where you have to escape the exploding Ark, New Alexandria in Reach, or the run to the Pillar of Autumn in Reach.

Harsh LOD bias, texture pop-in, much smaller levers, and vastly smaller 3D skyboxes.

Accusations of bias and agendas be damned, it's obvious that for whatever reason, DF's Halo 4 analysis did not really touch on the trade-offs in comparison to Reach that had to be made to achieve this fidelity.

    Halo 4

Yeah, they really dialed down the scale and upped the LOD bias in this. Makes it look less visually consistent than Reach. http://images.eurogamer.net/2012/articles//a/1/5/2/5/8/6/3/Halo_024.bmp.jpg http://images.eurogamer.net/2012/articles//a/1/5/2/5/8/6/3/Halo_003.bmp.jpg

    Halo 4

You don't have to defend Halo from every modicum of scrutiny. Yeah, loadouts existed before Call of Duty, but you're being obtuse if you think Halo 4's loadout system (among other things) were not inspired directly by Call of Duty.

That doesn't mean that the game resolution has to match the desktop resolution. Either way, it is silly to say that Doom 3 was designed with 640x480 res in mind.

The clip at 10:06 looks amazing.

    Halo 4

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1D-Ar0dAaQ http://youtu.be/b1qa4fcqBxY?t=41s The particles in Reach look more dense. The explosions kick up chunks of dirt, dust, and they collide with the environment (somewhat). Edit: Looks like Halo 4's particles have some sort of collision detection as well.

    Halo 4

I don't care about the motion blur, but the dynamic lights in Reach seem more noticeable by far, which makes the firefights look better in Reach than in 4, judging by the gameplay footage I have seen. Particles seem to have taken a hit as well. Grenade explosions look lackluster in comparison to...

If the effects aren't in the game, it is probably safe to assume that they were not a priority over other things, like the framerate. You haven't provided any sort of proof of the GPU cost of these effects on the PS3 version of Borderlands 2, so there's no point to "retract" because you...

    Halo 4 engine downgrades

I'm not seeing much in the way of muzzle flashes and plasma bolts casting lights. Back to forward rendering?

http://www.gamespot.com/halo-4/videos/halo-4-how-to-kill-prometheans-with-promethean-guns-6396937/?tag=Topslot;Halo4;HowToKillPrometheansW Look at the environment textures in this video. Maybe it's a streaming issue (or texture filtering issue), but some of them look really bad. Hell, Halo...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dr2sej5_4rY This does a good job of explaining and showing Halo: Reach's impostor system, in case anyone's interested.

    Halo 4 engine downgrades

Whoa there, Halo 3 had fantastic lighting. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-odst-tech-analysis-article?page=2 Look at the first video from the 20 second mark and pay close attention to the exploding vehicle and the light it casts on the plasma rifle. Yeah, I know it's ODST...
