Do you think there will be a mid gen refresh console from Sony and Microsoft?

The target spec of PS5 Pro will depend on how serious Sony is about PSVR2 (and beyond with the micro display Apple Vision Pro uses). 60+ fps for a PS5 game with no graphical compromise sounds reasonable.

    Sony PlayStation VR2 (PSVR2)

At the QA of that Unity GDC session, a guy from Tobii jumps in for no reason o_O

    Sony PlayStation VR2 (PSVR2)

Is there a realistic estimation for the effective reduction in graphics load by foveated rendering other than this 57% figure by Tobii + Nvidia in 2019? https://www.tomshardware.com/news/tobii-spotlight-technology-eye-tracking-vr-benchmarks,40052.html

    Playstation 5 [PS5] [Release November 12 2020]

The first half is about the teardown video, the second half is an interview with Yasuhiro Otori who appeared in the teardown video. Your translation is correct. CAE is used for optimization in some parts but not used for the design of the whole. They relied on physical experiments, including...

General Next Generation Rumors and Discussions [Post GDC 2020]

How did Sony improve the terrible yield issues!!111?? The article says there may be shipment issues but no manufacturing issue so far. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-07-15/sony-boosting-playstation-5-output-to-meet-virus-demand-surge

    Playstation 5 [PS5] [Release November 12 2020]

Creative released it at the beginning of 2019, Sony followed at the beginning of this year. Now how good it can be will be up to how much data it could collect and match with profiles in the cloud https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/articles/00233341

Current Generation Hardware Speculation with a Technical Spin [post GDC 2020] [XBSX, PS5]

Is it typical for a modern console game to always maintain 100% CPU and GPU load? With all scene complexity and difficulty to test all possible cases even if they are deterministic, I thought it would be wise to have some margin except for things like in-engine cut scenes. There are cases where...

Next Generation Hardware Speculation with a Technical Spin [post E3 2019, pre GDC 2020] [XBSX, PS5]

Takashi Mochizuki at Bloomberg is more credible than likes of ZHugeEx as Mochizuki who was at WSJ before is most likely talking firsthand with Sony employees for that article unlike those analysts doing armchair speculations or talking with secondary sources. In his Japanese tweet, Mochizuki...

Next Generation Hardware Speculation with a Technical Spin [post E3 2019, pre GDC 2020] [XBSX, PS5]

Not so proprietary this time... and cheaper than Atmos. https://www.sony.com/electronics/360-reality-audio https://www.sony.net/Products/360RA/licensing/ https://www.iis.fraunhofer.de/en/ff/amm/broadcast-streaming/mpegh.html

Baseless Next Generation Rumors with no Technical Merits [post E3 2019, pre GDC 2020] [XBSX, PS5]

I don't think the name of the town in the States predates the original Arden in the UK. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arden,_Warwickshire

Baseless Next Generation Rumors with no Technical Merits [post E3 2019, pre GDC 2020] [XBSX, PS5]

That brings me back to my earlier question yesterday in this thread about Arden that is associated with XSX by speculators supposedly because of the CU count. Arden is the maiden name of Shakespeare's mother and the name of the complete works of Shakespeare. If you include Prospero there, it is...

Baseless Next Generation Rumors with no Technical Merits [post E3 2019, pre GDC 2020] [XBSX, PS5]

Interesting. But do the underlying hardware for both Xbox One and XSX behave in the same way even though they are very different architecure-wise?
