    PS5 Pro *spawn

It would be hard to understand it at 6nm, especially if the design is as modern as reported. Really has to be a smaller node.

Digital Foundry Article Technical Discussion [2024]

I didn't test it that much but didn't notice any issues, at least running on my high-end PC.

    Switch 2 Speculation

Taking the various T239 leaks at face value (I don't see why not at this point), I think there are still a few interesting questions. Chief among them for me is storage - will Nintendo stick with MicroSD, perhaps limiting compatibility to high speed cards (120MB/s reads to 170 MB/s reads...

Digital Foundry Article Technical Discussion [2023]

I think some significant settings boosts alongside a big bump to internal and output resolutions justifies the Series S --> X jump just fine. It's just that in this case, 1440p on the S looks pretty good already so the need for extra res is not that significant.

Upscaling Technology Has Become A Crutch

I remember a huge amount of controversy when it was discovered that Killzone Shadow Fall was using an upsampling technique to hit higher frame-rates in multiplayer almost 10 years ago now. I'm sort of surprised that the same attitudes around upsampling have persisted for so long, at least in...

Digital Foundry Article Technical Discussion [2023]

Exactly this. 4K upsampling using FSR 2 isn't cheap and the final image looks essentially like a native 4K image anyways from a typical viewing distance, with very similar detail and clarity. For comparisons with PC, you'd really want to dial in the internal resolution and FSR 2 output to the...

Digital Foundry Article Technical Discussion [2023]

I did see a few people saying this, which seems to stem from one earlier video. Looking at a bunch of frames I couldn't spot any signs of edge treatment whatsoever - I think I counted about 25 frames for the review and any obvious geometric edges were perfectly raw. The game does a good job of...

Digital Foundry Article Technical Discussion [2022]

Not sure if it was clear in the article - I stress tested both systems. PS5 drops resolution a little more readily (ex: 1800p when Series X is at 2016p) but is at a full 4K plenty of the time.

AMD Vega 10, Vega 11, Vega 12 and Vega 20 Rumors and Discussion

The 1080FE consumes ~170-180W under load. In extreme circumstances, it goes to ~200W. That's about 50% greater power draw for similar performance, if we take the 295W TDP at face value for Vega 64.

AMD Vega 10, Vega 11, Vega 12 and Vega 20 Rumors and Discussion

Such a disappointing GPU. ~300W on a die larger than GP102 for 1080-level performance? Ouch. The cards are priced competitvely strictly on an FPS basis, but bearing in mind the cost of electricity (and the knock-on effects of high GPU power consumption on system reliability) Vega 64 doesn't...

Uncharted 4 discussion [PS4] (read first post) [2016]

According to DF, the Pro mode is 1440p with no other improvements apparent (just like the original game).
