Should intergrated Gaphics in CPU or Chipset?

Since both GPU and CPU does functions or computing, can't redundant tasks be combined? As in FPU or math functions be done with the GPU and left off of the CPU? Maybe a much more intergrated GPCPU then what will come out initially but then Cache for this could be shared. Clock speed I can't help...

Should intergrated Gaphics in CPU or Chipset?

OK, clock speeds for GPU on the CPU? Dissagree it will be more then just an IGP pasted onto core. Just seems interesting to me and wondering if any great advantages can be obtain by being in the same chunk of silicon. Seems to be a waste if just what you say.

Should intergrated Gaphics in CPU or Chipset?

Communicate through same bus when GPU is inside of CPU? GPU cache separate from CPU cache? External GPU memory support? I would think number of pins on GPU+CPU would limit options of what can be done. All the outputs from GPU will be needed and maybe some inputs. Very interesting for me to think...

Should intergrated Gaphics in CPU or Chipset?

I still wonder of the performance having the GPU inside of the CPU. Will the GPU share any of the cache of the CPU? Memory controller works with both the GPU and CPU or separate memory controllers. How about having dedicated memory for the GPU externally? Then again will the CPU/GPU work...

S3 Graphics Chrome 400 Series Graphics Processors

Rather cool S3 has a DX10.1 GPU. What surprised me was drivers where indicated to be working without problems. Memory has to be the biggest bottleneck with the card.

Sir Eric Demers on AMD R600

Very fabulous interview and responses. Not to sure how to word some questions, will do my best considering all the professionals here. R600 design looks to go beyond DX10 or pixel cruching, at least to me and I just can't help but ask. - Is other calculational or computing type problems...

    OpenEXR format HDR won't survive...

Since it is a HDR format like HDR and even Tiff FP I am sure it will survive. Anyways it is great for use in lighting calculations using image base lighting where you can take advantage of increase luminence and a lighting solution already figured out meaning less calculation needed on the...

DX10 GPUs: Will we see more GPGPU features?

Sounds like a new marketing name would be needed for the chip, RPU - Reality Processing Unit. :)

Anand has the details about r520,rv530,rv515

Only problem with using optimizations I seem to see them everytime, at least on my 6800GT that is.

Full transcript of John Carmack's QuakeCon 2005 Keynote

I have to say that is the best read this year for me on the Internet. Thanks for typing this up, I am sure it will hold up well over time. Now what game has ever used dual processors or multiple processes that remarkably improve performance? I know of none. Maybe a network game type game model...

Tim Sweeney Interview -- Level Design, technology and more!

Thanks soylent and Ostsol for the answers on BSP, sounds like a dual core processor could aleviate cpu usage in the end. Older games but not newer games and now it will be used again, hmmmm.

Tim Sweeney Interview -- Level Design, technology and more!

I like interviews in general and glad Tim decided to give some answers to the questions pose. Now what is BSP geometry? Anyone knows or could explain?

Or incapable of making a unified approach at present ;).

    Reality Engine Interview

WOW! This stuff looks amazing. Seems like game engines are progressing faster then other type of 3d programs.

    The Perfect Anti-Aliasing

ka·lei·do·scope, ATI's new AA method using the unused pixels generated from the pixel pipeline when they fall off the edge of the rendered polygon. Since this only happens on the edges those pipelines can be used to process AA blending with what is currently in the frame buffer using the...
