Intel Iris Pro 580 underwhelming performance

That does seem to explain a lot. So thanks to more TDP headroom, the 6785r can clock the GPU 20% higher up to 1.15 GHz. Assuming linear speedup this should put it at about 40% above that of 5775c/r Too bad there are no announced products with this chip yet.

Intel Iris Pro 580 underwhelming performance

I was searching through the forum, but couldn't find much if any discussion on the gaming performance of the Intel Iris Pro 580 as featured in the Skull Canyon NUC. My initial impression/suspicion is that the Skull Canyon NUC cooling solution is inadequate and is stifling the iGPU's true...

    AMD Bulldozer Core Patent Diagrams

Surprisingly, the current version of AVX doesn't support 256bit packed double precision FP dot products - at least it's not mentioned in the AVX intrinsics listing --edit-- However, I do see a vdppd instruction that should (judging by its name) perform this very operation. Does anybody know...

Which DX11 video card meets the best price/performance/power efficiency?

I would vote for the 5850. Sells for about the same as the 6850, is ever so slightly more power efficient and outperforms it in a vast majority of titles.

    AMD: R9xx Speculation

Does this mean that there in fact is no bandwidth saving when doing tessellation on the 5800s and 6900s? Doesn't that then defeat the purpose of doing tessellation in the first place (other than using less memory to store all the geometry)?

    Tessellation

Are there any tessellation tests of near game complexity that highlight the memory and bandwidth savings that come with use of tessellation? For example, I would be interested to see, if possible, how Cypress performs in the Heaven benchmark with all the tessellated geometry precomputed. From...

    NVIDIA GF100 & Friends speculation

Is that really the case? From what I've seen the 5850 retains its leadership in perf/W over the 6800s: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/HIS/Radeon_HD_6850/29.html

    AMD: R9xx Speculation

From where I'm from, the 5850 is selling for the same price as the 6850 and is both slightly faster in the majority of titles and is more power efficient as well (if ever so slightly). Being unimpressed by the tessellation speed and AF improvements convinced me yesterday that a 5850 is at the...
