Ultra High Mode in UT 2003

    how about difference in performance?

    Nv30 Clock rates?

coulda swore they were only running IKOS FPGA chips, and those are running in the KHz range... LOL

    Two new (conflicting) Rumors

quite conflicting indeed. I think that its really not prudent to discuss "speed" of the NV30 right now --- we know it will be DX9 compliant and more. I think we could leave it at that and just wait and see. The surprise is half the fun

NV30 to be launched at Fall 2002 Comdex

this could get real ugly real fast

Derek Smart on ATI Driver issues

good point type, but i think, in likelihood ATi wont provide a overclocking "tab." Why? well clearly, there are samples of the r9700 out that overclock really well, but its a high possibility that there a good deal of boards that do not. we know for a fact the chip is running pretty hot...

    Xabre based video cards

I haven't read a single xabre review so I don't know if thats true or just sarcasm... but if it is true, you should note the Xabre's poor texture filtering capabilities and almost non existant FSAA options. Also, the ti4200 most likely kills it in FSAA and anisotropic performance.

Pixel fill rate V.s Texel fill rate...

most definitely saem... but from my just toying with shaders perspective: it would be really nice to see what a 16x0 math power house could do... i mean if it should techinically (setup and bandwidth permitting) as fast as 8x1 in multi texturing duties, but it could do some serious shaders if...

Pixel fill rate V.s Texel fill rate...

call me crazy, but i wouldn't mind seeing a good implementation of 16x0. If you had good loopback capabilities, 16x0 could do a lot of damage to current games. of course the tradeoff would most definitely be slower or harder-to-implement-at-decent-speeds trilinear/anisotropic filtering.

    Xabre based video cards

Wow, thats so unlike you (take that as a harmless joke okay :) ) And this is so unlike me: try to find either a Radeon8500 128MB DDR if you can, or a good Geforce4 Ti4200. I would bet a great deal of money that neither would dissapoint.

    quick Radeon9700 question

this may have been asked and answered before, but I can't seem to find it: How big is the actual board? Like, the Geforce4 Ti board is definitely a large board, and the Voodoo5 is a monster, but how tall/wide is the Radeon9700?

Almost Official - NV28/18 only adds AGP 8x support

there is still a lot of debate over what those numbers really were. I for one remain skeptical, because, well, thats what I do best :) And If you increase cache sizes on the NV25 to NV28 and increase clock speed on the same process (.15) you probably cutting the cost of the chip ;) So the...

Almost Official - NV28/18 only adds AGP 8x support

so maybe higher clock speeds, but increased cache sizes? Not bloody likely... these chips are designed to be so effecient based on the size and performance of off everything else in the chip. Increasing cache sizes would offset that balance and could decrease performance if all you do is...

    MSAA and alpha textures

it works, but in some OpenGL games like Half Life, that extension is used for a completely different purpose. Sorry, but the extension has slipped my mind... something about making hogies for 5 hours that kills the memory LOL

Is AGP 4x the bottleneck of Radeon 9700’s triangle count

I agree with fillrate bound now... but when do you think we won't be, or what would the desired fillrate be?
