Sounds like it's the same R580 chip just a new spin, and slightly revised board/cooler combined with GDDR4 that gives R580 room to flex it's muscles.

Just a quick note for any other Win2k users like myself. Be sure and edit setup.bat and replace the folders pointing to "c:\windows\system32" with "c:\winnt\system32" since the installer is assuming you're running XP. If you already ran the installer before, modify the batch file and run it...

Maybe they're targeting it as a Vista game so that it can take advantage of the increased efficiency of DX under Vista? Wasn't one of Vista's main bonuses that DX is more efficient with less overhead and hence you can get more power from the same hardware? Correct me if I'm wrong there.

EXACTLY!! Someone remind me why I'd want to pay hundreds of dollars for a videocard so I can correct driver settings and mod .ini files for every game just so it almost looks like ATI's output (only now slower, but with HDR and SM3!!!!). I spend my hard-earned paycheck for image quality first...
