NGGP: NextGen Garbage Pile (aka: No one reads the topics or stays on topic) *spawn*

Just quote it then, ok? And Beyond3D might not be the place for you if think of rivalries and things like that.

But the Neo Geo was expensive, had a tiny retail presence, relied on arcade "ports"/compatibility and the individual games could cost about as much as a console from Nintendo or Sega. When the Neo Geo CD rolled around it was too late and no one cared. I was interested in that Samurai Shodown...

NGGP: NextGen Garbage Pile (aka: No one reads the topics or stays on topic) *spawn*

Yeah I understood what you meant, but I don't completely agree even about the recent past. Almost exactly one year after the PS3 launched Crysis was released.and it was just a ridiculous amount of crap going on in that game at the time. Before that, games were released on both 360 and PC...

It has pretty much always been like that. I don't know why people still get surprised by it. And I'm saying that as a console-guy myself.

It's all bullplop. But they're not that keen on allowing someone to just port a previously released console game to their console without throwing in some exclusive content. That's the only way one version will be forced to be "better" than another version.

Xbox One (Durango) Technical hardware investigation

Yeah that's what I figured. So... Bandwidth between esram and the CPU could possibly be what? I mean, the esram is connected to the north bridge but it's also embedded/directly connected in/to the GPU(I guess?), but the actual north bridge is integrated into the CPU. And the esram has direct...

Xbox One (Durango) Technical hardware investigation

The north bridge should probably be integrated as part of the CPU, right?

I think he meant that, outside the CPU, GPU and USB, WiFi, SATA, Bluetooth, RAM and the probably already integrated memory controller there's not many chips for Sony to design that would significantly change their product. But I don't know, perhaps they have a kick-ass scaler this time(only for...

Xbox One (Durango) Technical hardware investigation

I don't know anything about the Radeons, sorry. I was just thinking that with a clever layout of the chips they could avoid having to add too many layers to the PCB while still having a bus of 256-bits using only four chips @ 64-bits each. But then again, that would need 16Gb chips. Or eight...

Xbox One (Durango) Technical hardware investigation

Wouldn't the lower volume of GDDR5 produced ultimately make it more expensive? DDR3 is plentiful and cheap already. And the 256-bit lanes should be split over multiple chips on the mainboard converging at the endpoint(north bridge/memory controller) to create a bus that wide. Like the first...

Xbox One (Durango) Technical hardware investigation

So according to the diagram the esram has a 102GB/s interface to the GPU and... the same to the north bridge?

I wouldn't go that far, the home entertainment/living room segment has been a strongly pursued by MS for the last few yours and you can already buy things like live Pay Per Views of UFC on the Xbox 360 and much more, plus there's been talk about using it as a DVR/receiver in some capacity for a...

Wii U 'Has A Horrible, Slow CPU' Says Metro Last Light Dev

Sorry for the off-topic, but reading about the Wii-U reminds me of the OLD speculation on this board about the possible innards and design choices of each companies next-gen console. The quote is from 2003 and I'm always reminded of this joke when I read about whatever weird decisions...

Why isn't XB360 outselling PS3 in Europe? *spawn

Except if that political opinion is something KFCs business practices can't accept. KFC isn't everywhere like McDonalds you know.

Better Solution for 48 hr Xbox Live Gold?

Honestly, your disposition towards this warms my heart. But you bring up an interesting quandary.
