    Uncharted 4: A Thief's End [PS4]

Lol it's not tolerable in 2016 because you don't like it? One of the greatest developers on the planet is putting out a huge game for Sony doing just that. And it will receive critical acclaim for technical achievement just like the other games in the franchise that made compromises.

Current console sales prove consoles aren't doomed afterall *spawn

ARM phones and tablets cannot install and run most software by design. x86 devices have flopped left and right for over a decade. Don't listen to internet hyperbole. Just like Chromebooks overtaking Windows (by shipping hundreds of thousands to a couple million to retail a quarter) or an iPad...

Impact of Remasters on Advanced Engines

Is there a renewed focus on scalability in case the opportunity of a remaster presents itself? Should compromises consistent with the past continue or is internet chatter making a difference as far as 1080p/60 fps? I feel TLoU and Metro are having a positive impact, but unsure of what this means...

    *Amazon FireTV

That means the shipment volume is tiny. We know based off of public Apple TV/Roku shipments that these things sell like smart watches or windows 8 tablets. These things have trouble competing w/ a gaming console/PC for usage. That's extremely sad at such cheap prices and given what they're...

    inFAMOUS Second Son [PS4]

The skill jump is Uncharted-like coming from infamous 2. Looking good.

Gabe Newell: Valve will release its own console-like PC

Hopefully sexier PC case designs follow as a silver lining. I like the Nanoxia Deep Silence 2, but it could look better.

The game console living room fortress will not be breached by cellphones & tablets.

Gaming consoles brought in over 40 billion. So what?

    Ryse: Son of Rome [XO]

I think the game will be a solid launch game with a 74ish meta. Also, I would like to see Crytek make a trilogy exclusive on one platform. Just to see what they try. Watching ND progress was impressive last gen.

Digital Foundry Article Technical Discussion Archive [2013]

Should not happen on a console. I wonder why it shipped.

    Ryse: Son of Rome [XO]

I'm sure other games will be just fine. We don't want everyone making the same compromises that Crytek chose to make. That would be boring.

Effects of next gen consoles on you to buy a new HDTV?

Full RGB has a negligible benefit on a properly calibrated TV that can accept both ranges. The calibration results will be effectively the same.

Digital Foundry Article Technical Discussion Archive [2013]

Different design goals, varying levels of talent, budget, etc. GTA V is just another contradictory piece to the debate. A top flight director like Fowler doesn't wade into the console wars. It would've been great for the curious, but the generation is over now.

John Carmack talks next gen consoles at Quakecon 2013 keynote

In reference to your tank comment, remember multi-plat development didn't start with Battlefield and Crysis. Many don't work at any point with a comparable level of talent. In addition, you have political, technical, and time constraints that often kept the 360 and occasionally the PS3 from...

John Carmack talks next gen consoles at Quakecon 2013 keynote

What trend are you noticing when performance and/or memory has been left on the table for the 360 and PS3? All throughout this cycle. In addition, all of the "state of the art" games that Digital Foundry gushes over and writes multiple articles about would have to be completely rewritten. So...

John Carmack talks next gen consoles at Quakecon 2013 keynote

Given Rage and the fact his engine didn't gain traction, what's his authority on this subject? We haven't seen ND rewrite TLoU. Crytek didn't make a forward renderer tailored to 360 and deferred tailored to the PS3. He's not providing any evidence other than his word. I don't see how we can...
