State of the Graphics Industry Rant

LOL yea messed that up I'll edit that later. I didn't catch that one. It was flawed, but when the Radeon 8500 was released many complained about things that turned out not to be flawed with their methods. I'm just saying that if any company does something different, it is seen as negative...

    Trident XP4 Interview

I also read that and had the same reaction ;). And i believe there was something about a poision pill so a buyout wouldn't be possible. Yes lots of hype towards this, but hopefully the card will turn out good. Either way price for DX8 boards should drop to almost as low levels as the XP4 by october.

    Trident XP4 Interview

Apparently it does have Zbuffer compression, "The XP4 implements just about every trick of the trade in memory bandwidth reduction, including occlusion culling, texture compression, Z-compression, vertex caches" But perhaps you meant something else....what I'd like to know is how well this...

    Trident XP4 Interview

lol, I asked that same thing once I realized what his reply was. I'll get more information as far as that goes shortly. Actually sounds more like Quake3 and 3D Mark ;). I heard that they had a meeting with the Epic guys so maybe they will prove fairly well in Unreal Bench.

    Trident XP4 Interview

I don't think they were aiming for that kind of board at any point. But obviously they are hyping their card. One question I would have liked to ask but didn't get a chance was how their yield is doing at UMC, I'll make sure to ask them soon though.

    Trident XP4 Interview

I recently had a chance to interview Le T. Nguyen of Trident, where I asked a slew of questions about the Trident XP4 chip. I'll post a few bits of interest that might be of interest. I got some more info out of them not posted yet because of time constraints but I'll try to post those here...

The Graphical Divide Between High End and Mainstream

There has to be some form of incentive between getting a lower end model and a higher end model. Intel and AMD both realize this and many times disable cache (its physically there however) or use other tactics to produce lower costing chips (such as Celeron and Duron). Most consumers are...

    VIA Accuqire STMicro

It would be great if they did but I have a feeling that they would hold off if they did till they had more time for a revised roadmap/product line and marketing strategy. IDK, it be great if they did. For all we know, can't they buy this technology and just incorporate it into a integrated...

The Graphical Divide Between High End and Mainstream

Hey, I'm the author of that article. I post here every now and then. The site hasn't been updated in about 2 months since ive been redesigning it, a few articles were posted to test server load. Anyway, the article is probably ~2 months old, and it still holds true. Retail boards may be easy to...
