The non-technical answer is that the GPU is custom to meet MS' cost and needs. Expecting something similar with PS5.
The issue is console warring has gotten into such a way that this is seen as bad and as a point to lose in internet arguments. Who's to say it is? Both are made to hit a 499...
What's surprising for me this gen is how well MS has managed to kept Scarlett under wraps. There's hints here and there, but nowhere near where we can guess the specs.
Probably just an arm processor, like in the PS4 though, although much, much better.
Do they even make cell chips anymore? How is the tdp?

So if Sony wants to use the SSD as caching, wouldn't it make more sense to use something like 3d XPoint or Samsung's V-Nand to avoid wear?
It looks like something like Samsung's ZET series is the one you look at for it but I doubt anyone can afford a $1000 console :D
To be honest it would be weird for SIE staff to work on ray tracing tech, when the needs between cinematic quality ray tracing and video game is drastically different.
The most I think is just by consulting them. I won't be surprised if there's SIE people who shifted into Sony Interactive...
