Does SD go as granular as “Series S only” or “Series X only”, or does smart delivery only ensure that the S|X package is delivered and not an XBO XBX package?
Has anyone suggested that maybe the Series X|S optimized package includes two discreet texture packs? Both a hi-res one for the X (with the PS5 would also have) and “last gen” one for the S?
I was thinking the same thing with regards to Alpha effects with this title and ACV. Given the bandwidth advantage of XSX, it doesn’t feel like it should drop so significantly in these areas when compared to the PS5. Is it possible these early games are dipping into the “slow” pool of the XSX...
In addition to their profiling tools you mention, Microsoft is a 3rd-party developer for the PS5 via Mojang. Would Sony have specifically kept details of the new hardware and dev kits from Mojang to try and obscure any competitive advantage from MS as a whole? If what we are hearing about...
Didn’t they update the controller software stack to improve latency with the release of the S/X (and maybe to the XBO as well)? Maybe this is meant to highlight that?
I wonder how many instances of an Xbox Series S each blade can run. With the rumor being that the Series S will be 4TF and have 10GB of RAM, three instances fit nicely into a blade. (Four instances of XBOs would need 32GB of RAM on a blade.)
It would make also sense to for them to have tiers...
Phil Spencer has used the language "co-engineered" on more than one occasion when referring to the silicon in the XSX. I believe that makes it likely that DXR (or at least MS' learnings on RT) have informed the hardware design of RT in XSX and more broadly, RDNA 2. The way I interpret the...
Is it possible that the higher res textures plus superior texture filtering is responsible?
It almost seems like the same details exist in the other versions but are smoothed over by either a lower res texture and/or filtering.

I'm sure the fact that there would be roughly 80 million consoles already installed that do not support double data rate fp16, led ms to decide that support could only ever be a sku-specific optimization and have limited support. They also had no idea the pro existed or would support it so why...
What's odd about this is that Sony has NO UHD disc player in its electronics lineup. I thought for sure the absence of a stand alone player at the format's launch was a signal they'd be using it to buoy PS4 Pro sales, but now I have no idea what they are thinking. They sell UHD TVs and...
For $20, its worth supporting Playdead and also playing it before you stumble across any spoilers online. It's an amazing experience that you will want to play more than once.
I guess the problem that needs to be solved is for the console to differentiate between game chat and commands to Cortana. Even if saying "Cortana..." initiates a system command and mutes the mic to your chat party, its still probably annoying for the people you are chatting with to hear...
Not sure if its been mentioned already or its just too obvious to bring up but the new controllers should now allow anyone with a $10 headset to use cortana via the built-in mic instead of requiring a $150 kinect add-on. Wonder if this was one of the primary drivers for adding it?
I wonder if...
