NV34-U review -- what do you want to see?

Four quick reasons: 1. I have SS:SE and know exactly how it compares to my system. Not numbers for games I have no intention of dropping $50 on. (Yes its a selfish reason, but I can still ask) 2. SS:SE supports both OpenGL and D3D renders. By investigating both, we can see if drivers have...

NV34-U review -- what do you want to see?

For the 5200U, I would be interested to see some CPU scaling results. As this a "budget" board, I would like to see how it performs with "budget" CPUs. As for specific tests, I like to see SS:SE as well as some more non-traditional games.

    Doom3 benches revisited.

If you wanted to see what effect enabling AF had on the framerate and the HQ setting does infact auto-engage some kind of AF, then you must use a setting which doesn't turn AF on automatically. That would be a reason for using medium quality setting. That's a justification for using medium...

Suggestions needed on benchmarking the NV35

Or change the jpeg compression levels between supposedly equal screen shots like [H] did. (the 8x NV35 shots are 1/2 the size of the 6x ATI shots)

    Doom3 benches revisited.

Tom's site is also the site that found the NV35 increasing in speed with HQ when AA was turned on... If you read his desciptions So it appears that however D3 turned on AF with this quality settings, the NV drivers didn't really like it. Anand's comment on medium vs high quality: This...

Suggestions needed on benchmarking the NV35

The nvnews.net preview of the 5900U has at least some numbers for IL2 v1.2. Go here for the nvnews preview The second page has the IL-2 gameplay numbers based on FRAPS and some various other settings. Don't know if "perfect" landscape was used and there is no comparison to a R9800.

    ExtremeTech Article Up

Thanks for the answer. Follow up, does the change seem to have impacted the speed? Seeing as how the description above seems to indicate that the 0 setting is for performance and the 1 setting is "optimal," it would be very interesting to see how that actually affects the speed.

So what is the final determination with Serious Sam (one or two)? Is it really just a "known" issue of changing "ogl_iFinish=0" that fixes the visual anomalies?

    NV3X subpixel precision in 3DMark03

A few quick quotes: Anandtech didn't use 3DMark2K3 or 2K1 in their 5900U review.

    ExtremeTech Article Up

Well, nVidia has always been against 3DMark2k3. Seems like this might be a gigantic blow against it. nVidia's aim may either get the top score or invalidate the whole test. It now remains to be seen what the next moves will be. Look at the end of the Extreme Tech article: nVidia may have...

    NV35 Reviews

Hmmm. This is rather interesting. 3 images (nv 8x, nv 6sx, ati6x). All three pixel dimensions 1024x378. All three are very similar pictures with apparant very similar view areas. But three very different JPG file sizes. nv 8x=49,982 bytes, nv 6sx=70,068 bytes, ati 6x=98,092. A factor of 2...

will Doom III run at 60FPS on any current or upcoming card?

Re: will Doom III run at 60FPS on any current or upcoming ca Anand Tech and [H]ardOCP both were able to do some benchamarks with Doom 3 from iD. The results seem to show that with 4xAA and 8x AF, the nVidia 5900U with 256MB RAM ran very near 60 FPS at 1024x768 (Anands has 53 FPS and [H] has...

    HardOCP and Doom 3 benchmarks

I am guessing their next drivers will kill performance to the 10 fps range. Why, because we saw what the next available drivers (Cat 3.4) did. These are the next drivers from ATI released with the R9800-256. From what I can tell, these will infact be the next release of the drivers. But they...

    HardOCP and Doom 3 benchmarks

One question I have not seen asked in this thread that is of great importance to the debate on D3 benchmarks, why where Cat 3.4 compleltey hosed when running D3? All three groups who had D3 noticed the same thing, abysmal performance with Cat 3.4 and all switched back to Cat 3.2s (instead of...

    NV40 on test... <lol>

The same caluculation from thread at nvnews adds it up as 10652. Looks like it comes down to rounding/truncation. What exactly is the procedure 3dmark03 uses for this?
