Very relevant. RDNA3 has no FP8 support. You can quite literally disassemble the FSR4 driver .dll to see all the FP8 layers embedded.

FP8 matmul with WMMA. FP8. perf per offchip byte also matters, memory ain't growing on trees anymore.

Only so much they can do when the comp that has ~80% MSS is just missing. Their supply chain isn't designed to absorb this much demand.

It's a product strategy, same as their CPUs.

18A is the one that's gonna be wafer-limited to hell though.

yeah they do, Ryzen and EPYC were built in their modern states by cracking the comp skulls in public. That's implicit everywhere. Good execution is nice but the needle ain't moving anywhere unless you get really ambitious. Which is the problem pretty much only client gfx folks at AMD have.

Oh no, 6/8c CFLs neutered its market impact pretty well. But you couldn't argue against 3950X and 5950X even moreso.

Oh no no, noooooo. That only works if you have a Name of Power. To get one, you gotta win. Ryzen wasn't a thing until 3950X won most things, and 5950X won it all! Server is the same story. It's not a big chop, and the fundamental limit is bandwidth anyway. Looking at PCBs, these were definitely...

they benefit from this in the $599 SRP. no, they can't disrupt anything without an 800W halo part.

these were lower margin for AMD and that is all that matters. N48 is nice and cost-optimized, now they only gotta slap some 24Gb GDDR7 for a 9080XT.

pretty obvious isn't it? Pretty much everyone bolted on FF blurbs to do BVH walking and they just didn't.

No, you're more likely to get an out-of-order shader core.

    AMD RDNA5 Architecture Speculation

Doesn't really exist in the hardware. Maybe ISA unification, theorethically. the core ISA is stale bread so rigging in SPIR-V IR support a-la how OneAPI did it ain't hard.
