This just makes more work for developers and will lead to "sponsored games" with even more performance disparity than today.
Games will take longer and be more expensive. That's not what anyone wants.
I thought this was a funny comment (which I agree with).
But if you look on other forums its:
Oh AMD is up to their old hype tricks dont they ever learn!
AMD said Big Navi is going to be their Nvidia Killer!
AMD has been over-hyping again like every generation.

OK had to go read about it.
They have an api that does all the writing to the SSD, this looks like it allows the SSD to access the drive directy. The drive does appear to windows as a standard drive, but only after the Radeon drivers are installed. (I skimmed and didnt really read all the...
Not in the past. Both my friend and I have a couple of games that crash randomly if no swap is enabled. Enable swap and good to good.
In those cases we were not out of available ram.
Yeah not what I am referencing.
I never bothered to look at that as I have no real reasons to get one. Does that provide a general purpose filesystem accessible to windows or is that SSD an extension of the cards capacity? (So closed and not general purpose?)
These types of systems have been around in one form or another for a while now (years if not a decade) from various vendors.
The ones I have seen are designed to accelerate specific applications and not general IO.
I could be wrong as I have never gotten to work with any, but that has been...
DSoup and everyone,
I wanted to talk about a few things with PC architecture vs PS5.
It seems to me there roughly 3 areas where improvement could be:
1. Mechanically (Less physical signal path)
2. Greater SSD controller capability vs standard PC (More transactions per second)
2. Software layer...
Fully understand however 3d Xpoint (optane) is an order of magnitude or two faster than SSD from a latency perspective, so it starts in a much more useful place than SSD especially if used in the dimm form factor vs NVMe. (Depending on use of course)
I think the question on SSD is - in games is...
My original point was a hybrid drive doesn't seem very valuable as you cannot really use it in a granular fashioin like dedicated flash. I agree that a dedicated flash scratch pad may be useful (wanted to hear from some devs on how they think it could be useful).
