    Question regarding PS3 SKUs

My launch PS2 still runs like a champ. I did recently buy a Slim PS2 that's sitting in the box in case of emergencies. The 360 Elite has been solid for me as well, though I am on my third PS3 (80 GB fat).

What, no thread about the official Wii U release date and prices?

In many cases, a good chunk of the 300 might be offshore contractors (especially for art), but yeah, I have seen teams with that many on-site staff. For what it's worth, the large companies (Microsoft, Activision, EA, etc.) have gotten very good at wielding such large teams effectively -- I...

The Rise of Costs, the Fall of Gaming

Those are ancillary costs. The bulk of the cost to publish a game is in the salaries for the team (over the time required to develop the title), followed by marketing.

Pictures of new PS3 console [CECH-4000]

Yeah, I'm considering buying a PS3 Slim just in case, along with a PS2 Slim, as those have started to increase in price.

It appears the PS2 was the high-water mark for Sony's industrial design.

Predict: The Next Generation Console Tech

That's fine if you have no shared state between any of your objects, but if that was the case, you wouldn't have much of a game. :) A lot of game logic has shared state and requires synchronization -- things like path planning, collision, AI (decision trees with dependencies). The most...

    Star Wars 1313

Lucas has been through multiple reorgs. Most of the TFU team was let go back in 2008 if I recall correctly. That being said, those games used plenty of licensed tech (and I'm told it was kinda a mess).

    Mass Effect 3 Wii U

In the case of Arkham City, it was chugging quite a bit with a very low framerate at times.

    SURPRISE: Tekken Tag 2 Announced

IMO, Namco had the best booth at E3. Not only were the Lily and Ling booth babes hot, but the game was fantastic. Can't wait. The other game I played heavily was VF5FS, which is out now. SEGA had two HORI Fighting Edge sticks set up, and they were excellent. I will order one tomorrow! DOA5...

    Project P-100

This game was playable on the show floor and its the Wii U game I spent the most time with given its pedigre. The game is decent, but I found the transitions between the primary display and gamepad display to be confusing and non-intuitive. It would be a good idea to add some haptic feedback...
