Delta Force - Black Hawk Down.

My favorite online multiplayer game. The game looks very similar to the new CS from the shots I’ve seen -- (I’ve never played CS). The game came out in early 2003 with about 15 MP maps and had a map editor/maker. I never get tired of the game because there are always new maps being made. A fair amount of people seem to be making maps for the game and I’d estimate there are 1000’s of map for the game now.

There are some single player missions for the game but it was made primarily as a MP game. Up to 50 people on a sever can make for some excellent firefights on small map. Unfortunately, the cheaters in this game really disgust me because the game is really well done and very enjoyable without them.

The 3D environments/maps can be huge. You could run around for hours on this map …

The game is set in Somalia (dessert type Iran terrain). There was an expansion pack called Team Sabre that added new trees and scenery for a jungle type of atmosphere.

OP: Flashpoint was very promising, but it had the worst controls/UI I've ever seen. Brought it back the same day I bought it. Such a pity.

It's apity you didn't persevere, the SP campaign had a lot of depth. Yes it was a bit rough around the edges, but the ambition of the game was huge and it mainly pulled it off. No other squad based shoooter comes close to it yet in scale and flexibility.

agreed. one of my personal faves too
personally can't see what's so unintuitive about the controls - but then, i never had a problem with Gothic either. once you get used to the 'click+push up' system it felt very natural

yeah single player was dreadful, looked good, but was so limited and a shooter on rails really. Having to die from each RPG guy to learn where the next one was going to be when you were being transported just sucked especially on missions with 3 or 4 in a row between checkpoints. Lazy game design on a game with checkpoints only.

I feel the exact same way, both were amazing games and both had good interface/controls once you gave them a chance. Some people just dont want anything thats even remotely different.

Ignore them! For your own sake don't buy Unreal 2! It's one of the most tedious, godawful pile of crap FPS games ever released! I am NOT overstating this, I can assure you.

I know the game was very good, I just coudn't stand the controls. I didn't even bother trying it for long, the mouse movement was absolutely not acceptible to me.

Unreal 2 was awful. But every game done by Legend sucked, so I never expected it to be good (and: DON'T bother mentioning Wheel of time, please! It was the most boring game ever, I finished it only because I paid for it *say hype* and wanted to at least finish it)
