Plug it into a USB2.0 port and use the Toshiba XP, Vista, or MacOS drivers plus WINDVD8 and you're good to go.

Or, if you want an internal install, take the drive out of its shell, mount in your PC, and use a laptop cd (mini atapi) to IDE converter and you're set! Not bad for $199 especially with a free copy of King Kong and the ability to sell the included 360 remote on eBay to make back some of your cash :)

yea but how long before someone brings a PC drive out for half the price?

Likely it will be quite a long time when comparitively Blu-Ray PC drives cost $700.

This HD DVD addon even comes with an enclosure and a free King Kong HD DVD for its affordable price.

I presume that it is decoded on the HD-DVD drive and then streamed over USB to the XBox360 or Mac. Does anybody know if this is a standard format that would allow drivers to be produced for Linux, say on the PS3 to give you dual format?

No, it's just a normal external HD DVD drive. All decoding are done in the Xbox 360 (or PC, if you use a PC to watch the movie).
