You know, Jim... Sitting at a computer playing games usually tends to make people get fat... :D

Ugh, I had forgotten about that :(

Yeah, looks like your best option is to find a friend that already has the game. Anyway, I can tell you what you'll basically get out of EQ2 over EQ1:
    1. Vastly better solo play.
    2. Faster combat.
    3. Many more useful quests.
    4. Vastly better crafting system.

Personally, I feel that anybody who likes Everquest should love Everquest2. I mean, it's got all of the main aspects of the original still intact (specifically, the challenge), but now the process is just much more fun.

It has also a lot of EQ 1 flaws :)

Borrow a Wow friend account to check by yourself and i guess you shall be stunned to meet so many ex-EQ players.

    Thanks for the reply, Chalnoth.
This is good news! I was under the impression soloing was harder in EQ2, and that is what has kept me from taking the plunge. I'll have to but a copy now. :)

There are a lot of account sales on RSCLegacy. I am a big fan of this game, usually join guildiest on there, which is a lot more fun anyways, lol.

you do have to fill out some forms to download the demo, but you can do it without actually subscribing to file planet or any of that monkey business. i just had to let it d/l overnight cause the 2 free public servers with it had queues. whats nice is you can get to level 6 in the demo, then buy the full version and keep playing with your character. i just deleted the demo (1.5 gigs!) before i installed the dvds.

i just started last week and im level 16 now as a rogue. 95% of the time solo. I can easily solo creatures my level. the only real danger is wandering adds.

to me the biggest difference is that npcs are either solo, group, or heroic. so two solo npcs could be next to eachother, and you dont have to worry about pulling both of them (as long as you dont walk within their aggro range)

Your EB Games and Gamestop may not have them stocked locally as they concentrate on newer PC games or have found older MMO's don't sell, but they certainly exist. ^_^ On those, you usually have better luck running across them in Wal-Mart or Best Buy, who devote more shelf space to a more generic quantity of titles. (And PLENTY of older/cheaper stuff.)

Second hand info out of Blizzard, they are bleeding "hardcore" players. This is obviously little to no surprise to many of us that predicted such an occurance but serves merely to confirm that, yes, it is happening.

You guys must be dense or something, I'm on Earthen Ring (still), it's a low population server (still), there's still people bloody EVERYWHERE, and no lag, no login issues etc whatsoever... I've yet to end up in a login cueue for the first time in my life.

Don't make guys on crowded servers! JESUS! :D

There's not much choice if you started when the game launched. Particularly if people have been playing all this time, it becomes very daunting to create a new character, or even, if such is possible, move to another server and leave many friends behind.

What i dont understand is why EQ2 doesnt start a server that is completly fresh. No moving players, just people creating new toons for it. Id jump on that in a sec.

Well, that somewhat defeats the purpose of creating a new server, as the purpose of a new server is to lessen the load on current servers. Regardless, if you're starting EQ2 now, you won't be the first to do most things anyway, but in many other ways it'll be better, as the game will be more mature for you.

WoW's issue is with ease of levelling makes it attractive but lack of depth at high level means power levellers will go quickly. They need to get battlegrounds out of the door. As after a month I'm only level 22 I don't see me getting bored very quickly, WoW is ideal for me as a non hardcore MMORPG gamer plus I'm playing with 3 or 4 people I know in RL. One has already dropped out as its not hardcore enough for him though.
