Ok, I tend to visit PA about once a month or so, or else there won't be a decent batch of new comics to read, and I rarely check out the editorials unless it's obvious from the comic they're commenting on some recent controversy in the gaming business or such (because most of the time their editorials are frankly bollocks and/or boring). I simply missed it, and as nobody else reported it elsewhere... *shrugs*

Weird tho, PA are pretty big, I'd think someone would have noticed and talked about it, but it happened over a month and a half ago and nobody said a word... Maybe it's a Blizzard cover-up?

Interesting figures! No idea how accurate those Lineage numbers are, but they sure are impressive even if they are somewhat inflated! I didn't know 250k subscribers was still the big hurdle for most MMORPGs.

In hindsight UO's performance impresses me all the more, keeping the game alive with relatively constant subscription numbers despite the competition and for so long certainly couldn't be expected. Numbers seem to be finally dropping now, looks like the window for EA to stay in the MMO market might close soon. They need a UO sequel badly!

WOW's performance is truly impressive, the first western MMORPG that easily made it past the 500k mark and no stop sign in sight. It seems to have more subscribers right now than most other western MMORPGs combined and really dwarfs its "big" rival EQ2.

The most impressive result is for the first time a game made Everquest base shrinks enough that Sony started to merge servers.

EQ2 is more likely the cause of that than anything.

but but but JVD is soo pissed off with balance problems with EQ2 he's not playing it anymore. And EQ2 pisses all over WoW

Actually I can see the depth issue with WoW but I'm such a part time player, I can see Battlegrounds etc all coming along well before I get annoyed (high level enough to want more) :)

Interesting fued on the SOE forums is watching the Illusionists say Coercers regen power too much, and the latter accusing the former of draining power from mobs too much. Both classes want each other nerfed so they're on equal footing. The game's notes clearly read that SOE created these classes this way on purpose. . .you wanted to be a chanter with strong power regen, play a f'in coercer you morons!

People on forums always bitch and moan, it's universal.

...Hey, just look at me! :p Seriously tho, I try to be constructive in my criticism and found my complaints in logic, most whiners just bitch about not being uber. I saw far too much of that during my Diablo2 years.

I had a blast tonight playing WoW, made some mad exp (well, dunno really, I just like the expression, heh!) and good money too doing raptor quests in the wetlands and selling the crap they dropped (eggs, claws, teeth etc), plus got a better weapon, gained a level and got better skill and better talents... Very nice. Am level 28 now, still loads to go, still lots of places to visit. Only really been in six zones total so far with my two major chars so I'm not gonna complain yet about the lack of new content updates by Blizzard. :p

Where and what level is a good spot to make lots of cash? I'd like to buy a tiger at some point. :)

At high levels, you can't really beat killing blood elves--zero downtime for a decent character.

Have no idea where these blood elves live, and what do you mean by "high level"? 40+? 50+? :D

I guess I'll stumble upon them eventually in my wanderings...

The AH is great, been making several gold a day from metal I mine and don't need for engineering. I guess it helps being on a fairly low population server (bloodhoof eu).

Turned 30 in-game yesterday by partaking in two raids through blackfathom deeps (nasty place that), as well as completing quests linked to it. I also received a really phat staff in that place, as well as a couple random other green items, though nothing really outstanding.

We had a paladin with us in our group, which was very fortunate. I died several times, as did others too, but he resurrected us. :D That place is absolutely crazy...

What nifty trick? We just wailed on him with weapons and spells until he died. He never got close to me because my crab and a warrior tanked for the rest of us.

Blood elves live in Azshara and are level 52 or so. They are nearly all casters and go down real fast. They also drop tons of runecloth if you need it. With my level 60 warrior, I can usually kill them in 4 hits ;)

I recommend trying Hearthglen for farming if you're 60 and have decent enough gear. Lots of level 55ish elite casters and a roaming level 60ish elite that can drop some sweet stuff (highest level lockbox etc).

While we have an open WoW topic, does anyone have a 10-day pass code they're not using? A friend of mine likes a well-rounded MMO education, so I've been looking for one so he can check it out. PM the details so no evil people can claim them for themselves! ;)

Isn't there a demo version of WoW out (yet)? I thought all MMORPGs had a demo version...
