Digi, stay out of this :p . No one knows how fast NV40/R420 will become out of date. This generation was a big leap - 2x the pipelines. Doubt we're due for such a big jump anytime soon hence my skepticism that NV50/R500 are going to be these magical chips that some people expect. They might be but we can only hope.

Actually, I'm pretty sure the Parhelia has been defying that quite well at least from the cost standpoint.

I'm surprised that Kyle even mentions the Parhelia. He and the Parhelia aren't exactly buddies.

I bet I am one of the few people here that actually purchased one, so that should put me in a better position to gripe about it if I wanted to right? :)

Seriously, I game it away to a guy that wanted triple montitor support...and never played games. Couldn't have slept at night if he had been a gamer.

I'm really interested in how the 6800 nu and 6800 LE fair with D3. I'm less than enthusiastic about dropping 400 on a video card just for a series of games based upon a single engine. <edited:please refrain from trying to start flameswars here> (oh god I can feel the flames already)...

The BFGTech 6800 OC kicked more ass than Oprah Winfrey on crystal meth.

He's probably feeling chilly. And in response to your little quip above no where did my scenario depend on selling old hardware at outrageous prices.

Yes those big 10 fps make a world of difference  On a game capped at 60 FPS :!:

I could see if the game wasn't capped for online play where Framerate means alot...this entire 'benchmark' smells for just that reason.

Were the X800's getting to 60fps in most situations? 10fps means a lot until you get to the 60fps ceiling.

At my native resolution they were of 1024 x 768 (X800s were CPU limited and getting 72 fps), and I'm sure ATIs excellent 2X FSAA will be useable on my 9700 clocked to 9800 levels.

Now benchmarks shows this game is very CPU limited, if you already have a strong DX9 card you would be better of getting a faster platform.

Yep, just checked the article and that's true. 1024x768 is fine on the x800's. I think somebody said that Doom looks good even at 640x480 so higher resolutions or AA may not have as much as impact as before. But we'll know soon enough :)
