    yes, name of topic is a bit flamey... but i would like to hear -in short- from those people that didnt like what was their biggest proble with it.

    i'll go first:
    1) monster from closets, first few might surpise you, but after playing a while you can predict when they will come out with 80+% certainty (at least in my case)
    2) repetative... if they cut labs by 2/3 and made final levels last longer it would be much better game
    3) AI.... whats AI?

    in short

    nothing :mrgreen:

    OK 1 point - too long section in Alpha labs they could have cut 3/4 off it and the game would have much better dynamic.

    Anyhow the best "blockbuster" game of last year for me...

    Nothing.

    Btw, regarding cutting a few levels, I wouldn't want that. I like long games and Alpha labs were some of my favourite parts. If anything they should only make it possible for some players to skip those levels.

    Btw Diplo, I don't think you're entirely correct, people keep complaining about AI even after criticising what JC said in many interviews before the game even shipped: that they weren't doing anything special with AI.

    All the above + Poor use of physics, no interaction with items, no problems solved by physics really.

    All that machinery and no real puzzles except hunt the code.

    Rubbish gun sounds.

    Not enough of Mars surface, too much use of internal/dark corridors.

    People complaining that id should have made D3 how some people wanted & not the way id wanted D3 to be.

    -lack of variation in level design and enemy's;
    -no puzzels;
    -repetitive gameplay;

    Though it was meant to be that be tha way, it doesn't cut it anymore these days.

    - too dark
    - activities too tedious (codes, cabinets, over and over)
    - monsters jumping out of 'nowhere' enmass, so you have to die 3 or 4 times just to find a choke point (or something) to deal with them.
    - environments only varied in a couple basic ways
    - bosses too frustrating (the giant dog with horns...first boss) i hate boss fights anyway
    - not enough variety in activities (cranes, video games in a couple spots..) should have been more gizmos to mess around with, and perhaps use strategically
    - tooo linear. (your course through the game)
    - not completely consistent (jump on this, but not on that)...i think, i can't remember, it's been awhile.

    Target or shoot, but best future tech isn't even close to CURRENT tech, no flashlight, no IR, no light amplifier... no tech at all, let alone advanced...

    Ultra repetitive.
    Way too BLACK (sorry dark != 90% black screen).
    Weak scenario (but ID never was good at it)
    No perceived AI.
    Useless physics (it was a marketing tickbox, not a feature)
    Unrealistic game, AFAIR walking on Mars w/o a complete space suite is just a BAD idea, you're gonna freeze in seconds.

    one of things i really hated was monsters spawning behind you.... i mean i just fucking went through there, there was nothing..... and then BOOOOM shot that takes 40% of your health from behind...

    i mean WTF.... any idiot would clean before going further.... ahhhhh, i forgot monsters hidden in walls :roll:, teleporting monsters behind you in the middle of the fight :roll: and all other things that make great FPS.....

    It was not a Doom game, that's THE wrong thing. :!:

    Otherwise it was not a bad game at all.

    Obviously we have a great disagreement as whether a game should be BELIEVABLE, or utterly unrealistic.
    I take the former, suspension of disbelief.

    i don't like monster/zombie/demon/uber robot soldier games anyway. kinda beneath my immersive capabilities...to 'g' rated. to 2 dimensional. life isn't like that, not by a long shot. too many folks don't realize it.

    i like regular guy in extraordinary circumstances games.

    (eg halflife, gta, postal, boiling point)

    Too repetitive is my biggest complaint.
