What is Cell?

First, if this thread is inappropriate and is locked, I'll understand.

Now, I am absolutely a novice when it comes to understanding basic workinga of a CPU. Is there any guide/article for someone like me to understand what Cell is and how it differs from other types of CPU's?

These may be kind of heavy and filled with neat acronyms but unless you dig in too deep you could possibly find the information you need.
I would probably go for the high level overview in anandtech's article and the first two pages in the Real World Technologies article.
