What graphics card did you have before your current card?

Had both before (5950U/9800XT) & have both now (6800/X800) .

 

ATI Radeon 8500(stock) -> Powercolor X800Pro VIVO @ XT PE

 

Just sold my 6800 GT and bought a Parhelia...

 

Well in my lifetime, i went:

Commodore 64 8) --> 2MB S3 Virge --> (later on coupled with) Canopus Pure3D 6MB Voodoo1 --> 32MB Matrox G400 --> Radeon 7000 --> 256MB GFFX5900U. And now i'm broke.

Seriously? You have my sympathies. I just got done fixing up a 5950 ultra and I bloody hated every second I had it in my rig and I couldn't get done testing it fast enough to get it out!

 

I don't game that much. I bought Doom3 and Farcry and HL2, havent finished either of them. I bought it mainly because Maya works better on Nvidia cards.
The Commodore 64 was cool, a total fucking pain in the ass, not sure i've actually ever played a game through on it before having it crash miserably with those fucking tapes and all that crap.
My gaming needs were satisfied by my NES and then a Genesis which just magically worked.

 

Ah, Genesis....that was the first console that really made me go "woah!". 8)

 

Oh yes. That Sonic was just awesome.

 

Shinoba blew my mind entirely, it kept me out of the bars for weeks!

to speak the truth, I have been hunting Pyramid3D for a while now. I do have already 2 AXE (aka. Avalanche3D) chips, but no card, so I left it out.

I don't really like nvidia cards due to drivers and compatibilty problems, also I prefer the colors and stability of current ATI cards but when I needed a replacement (somehow almost always unexpected) nvidia cards where just a lot cheaper with a acceptable performance.

My next card definately will be a ATI R520 in my new system:
