i would have to agree, i find it still has replay value even though i have finished it like 10 times. nothing like an alien terro site in the middle of the night on one of the harder difficulties as your 2nd or 3rd mission.......

Do SEX  has to come a close second.

    The greatest: Star Control 2.

Honorable mentions: Tie Fighter, Dune 2, C&C, Doom, Kotor, Monkey Island 2, Maniac Mansion 2 Day of the Tentacle, Master of Orion 2. edit: Have to add Mass Effect, Dragon's Age and Crysis as well.

You know it would have to be COD:MW2

Had such a great story line with twists and turns, Proper Hollywood style.

first game in X-Com series is ahead of the rest for me. Follow up is a hard choise between Alpha Centauri, Master of Orion 2 and starcraft 1.

While there are many great ones i still think Deus Ex was my best PC game experience.

Back in the day, I'd probably say the original Elite, Civilization, XCom, Wing Commanders, Privateer, Fallout 1 and 2.

However nowadays I think I'd go with 'X3 - Terran Conflict'.
A bit buggy at release as most PC-titles, and Egosoft only has 16 employees, but now a few years later it's stable as rock. :)

Well base on how much I played and replayed them and how memorable they were, I'd have to list these, because you can't name just one really.

    Wing Commander series
    Privateer
    Star Craft Brood War
    Diablo 2
    Monkey Island series
    Ultima Underworld
    Wizardry I-V
Might and Magic III-VII (the orignal RPG's, not the Heroes series)
    Baldur's Gate
    Half Life
    Tie Fighter vs X-Wing
    Free Space 2

If purely based on the amount of hours I'd put into a single game, I think it would be close between Diablo 2 and Anarchy Online.

X-Wing + Expansion packs + CH flightstick + projector was freaking awesome back then. If Lucas ever do remake it for modern PC, I'll consider building a 500" curved screen and an X-Wing cockpit replica to play it :)

RPG - Baldurs Gate I and II with expansions
    FPS/RPG - System Shock
    Strategy - XCOM TFTD/UFO

Really so many good memories but to many games to name.

  13. Loved half-life. Also really like legacy of kain: soul reaver. Though I never finished the game. Max Payne 2 was also very good.

Heh, if I hadn't played Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord on the the Apple I would likely have put that as my best PC game for most impact. :D

And if we went by hours spent in game. My oh my, that would easily have been Evercrack 1 and expansions. I easily spent thousands and thousands of hours in that game. At a potential of 3000+ hours a year, it's likely I logged well over 10,000 hours in the first 3-4 years. Considering how much time I spent in that game, it was an absolute bargain at 9.95 a month when it launched. :D

That was one of my first experiences with computer games actually, a friend had an Apple IIc with Wizardry I on it and I played it all the time when I went there. A year or so later we got our first XT at home and my first game was Wizardry I for PC

I would say that Wizardry I was the game that started me on PC games, pen n paper RPGs and fantasy novels.

    ahhh the nostalgia:

My FIRST computer game (cheating as it was before the PC) was "Dungeon" (later called Zork when it came to PCs) on a thermal-printer terminal connect over phone lines to a PDP11. We played a bit of "Adventure" but I prefered Dungeon: "swing sword"

I remember Wizardry, I preferred Temple of Apshai myself. I also was very hooked on the Scott Adams word games.

Hehe, I "think" the first computer game I ever played was The Oregon Trail. :D Man that was ages and ages and ages ago. Although my memory gets a bit fuzzy going that far back and games get sorta mixed and mingled about when I might have played them.

Actually now that I think about it, I think I played some computer games on the TRS-80 even before that, as The Oregon Trail didn't appear on Apple ]['s until 1981. And I'd played games back in the 70's. And don't tink the TRS-80 ever got that game.
