Which game do you reckon has a loading screen that takes longer to finish than in anything else?

I´d like to make a loading time comparison with a couple of ssd drives and a regular hard drive.

Gran Turismo 5 had so long loading times, that I got bored waiting... I suppose they improved the situation by a patch, and many players have installed SSDs to their PS3 to make it faster...

GT's loading times have always been fine for me, but got faster after a HDD install (the install itself was used by digital foundry among others to test SSD improvements for write speeds), and Spec 2.0 has optimised loading to the point where loading the track takes mere seconds, and the cars are being loaded after you've already got the track and menus in view (and can use them). The cars sound like they are loaded from BD still, which is interesting and unexpected, at least for me.

Modnation Racers has had pretty long loading times afaik.

    Yeah... GT5..

On 360, PGR3 had some pretty long load times as well. Fable II was pretty awful IIRC.

The initial load on Uncharted 1 or 2 is a necessary pain.

GT 5? Menu maybe, but tracks were ok.

For levels from what i've played definitely Motorstorm and Killzone 2

    Well done fellow worshiper
Let me tell you your feeble attempts of spreading evil just do not compete with that most majestic of pursuits "P.C gaming"
Of course loading times are terrible that is the Gaming Gods punishing you
Do I post tales of P.c Gaming in the console section, NO because i know posters there would be blinded by the righteous light of Gods own Gaming machine causing them to post in unison "hail Davros for he is indeed the dogs Bolloxs" then they would weep tears of longing for the joys of playing on such a proud and noble system.

Unreal 2. It loads maps as fast on a modern processor as on a 1.2ghz Athlon. It's as if it's on a timer.

Call of Pripyat takes a helluva long time to initially load, but after that if you die and reload it's really quick.

Heh, sebbbi had me fooled there, sorry. On PC it always feels everything has long load-times, to be honest. I try a demo occasionally, only to have it not run at a sufficient framerate, ever, on my too humble media PC, and although my HDD is one of my better ranking components (6.9 I think) I always expect much better load-times than I'm actually getting. I wonder though how often that is because the game tries to connect to some online server or other.

Battlefield 3 doesn't load especially fast on my PC. A lot of times the match has started by the time I join.

Probably has something to do with my 320GB HDD being nearly full...

I don't know which had the longest, but I remember which had the most. The original Witcher's loading screens has loading screens. Which eventually lead you to a queue. For another loading screen.

Off to uninstall some useless shit on my HDD. BFBC2... won't be needing that anymore.

What's a good defrag program? I've always used the Windows one but I feel there must be something better out there.

    I use Defraggler
    http://www.piriform.com/defraggler

allows single file defrag ect to be honest nearly all third party defrag programs use the windows api so they are much of a muchness
but defraggler gives you free ssd drives :D

    repost from http://forum.beyond3d.com/showthread.php?t=60441&page=7

    Sort of ssd related,
I got several of them for free
I ran defraggler and the automatic update kicked in and while updating it displayed the changelog.
    this caught my eye
    [IMG]

A little more work needed on that feature methinks..............
and the drive that is actually a ssd (if you count a usb thumb drive as a ssd) isnt counted as one

ps: you mentioned uninstalling games. Could you explain that for me I dont really grasp the concept why would you do that ?

    BF2 loads slowly.

GT5 loads faster now after Update 2.0.

IMO Pure (yeah, that racing game). It's not because it's actually loading something though, there's a bug that causes the game to not refresh the loading status properly. The solution is to alt tab till the status updates or wait ~6 minutes.

suggesting for BF3 loading new map.

i literally can go to bathroom, walk to drink water in water dispenser (in other room), go back to bedroom, and BF3 still loading the map...

also the loading is a lot worse after the november update, now its like 2x-3x longer.

by the time i finish loading, the mcoms already blown (rush), or many fags got captured (Conq)
