What are your must buy games for Winter?

Rangers

Legend
Now is kind of a slow time. I dont game nearly as much as I message board about them LOL. Never have, really (well, back in the NES/SNES days maybe). So I find that I only make a few game purchases a year, and those are the "triple A" titles.

Anyways, I've been thinking about must have fall games for me. However, there is a budget to consider, so I may not be able to buy 6, 7, 8, $60 games in a couple months.

I came up with three. Halo3, UT3, and Mass Effect. Halo 3 well, the hype is not as much as for previous Halo's imo, but it's still Halo. The single player is still going to be epic. I'm still excited. It's still a day one, 12AM at 24 hr Wal Mart, must buy. The funny thing is it seems like every couple years I do this, I always take off work early so I can be at Wal Mart at 12AM so I can buy Halo the first minute. such that I think I will see the same handful of guys there to buy Halo again this year! Just find that kind of funny.

UT3, well, I'm a longtime PC UT player, seeing the franchise redone in UE3=must buy, most likely.

Mass Effect: This will be a longer, more RPG oriented title, and I'm looking forward to that.

Now, Assassins Creed is also virtually a must buy however, I dropped it just slightly. COD4 is a strong contender for me, I think Bioshock and Brothers in Arms could be possibles, depending how they shape up near release (Brothers in Arms less likely, as I tire of WW2 games). Battlefield: Bad Company could shove it's way in, if it turns out amazing (though I'm not sure it's a 2007 title).

Must buy:
Halo 3. Really enjoyed the beta even though I suck and hoping the campaign is goood.
Bioshock. Looks too cool to mass up.
Mass Effect. Same as above
Splinter Cell: Conviction. I thought the other SC games were a bit to spy based thus they didn't appeal to me. This one seems more like an adventure tale. Just really hoping it's tense and fast paced throughout.

On the fence on:
GTA4. Enjoyed crackdown a lot due to the leveling system so that set my expectation for such genre to exceed the basic mission setup. Hoping for a bit more than GTA3 will pretty graphics.
Heavenly Sword. I need a damn game for my PS3! This one just might be it. Waiting for the demo.
Assassins Creed. Haven't seen anything for a while on this so I'll wait for reviews.

Half Life Orange Box could be interesting (October release date). Apart from the original HalfLife2 it includes Episode 1 and 2, Team Fortress 2 and Portal.

Aside from that, Assassin's Creed, Bioshock, Halo3, Mass Effect, Splinter Cell and maybe Blue Dragon (if you like JRPG's) are must buys for me (edit: and probably GTA IV).

I think Street Fighter Turbo HD will release around that time as well on XBLA and PSN. :!:

Crap I totally forgot about GTA4 and SC:C. Both are possible purchases, especially GTA4. That game looks great graphically to me.

If I had a PS3, Heavenly Sword would probably be a must buy.

Street Fighter HD for sure, though I'm not really counting XBLA.

Half Life orange box, another great choice...again, simple budget will prevent me from buying all of these I'd like.

Assassin's Creed, Bioshock, Fifa 08, Lost Odyssey (probably), PGR4, I'm sure there are a few more in there..

  1. Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo: HD Remix
  2. Mass Effect
  3. Blue Dragon
  4. BioShock
  5. Halo 3
  6. Grand Theft Auto IV
  7. Orange Box (I still haven't played HL2)
  8. Guitar Hero III (if I can find a bloody guitar!)
  9. Assassin's Creed
  10. Brothers in Arms
  11. Splinter Cell: Conviction
  12. LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga
  13. Project Gotham Racing 4
  14. Lost Odyssey
Oh dear........

Due to recent financial decisions, ill be on a gamefly renting spree this fall-winter season

So the two must buy games for me are Halo 3(console wise) and Crysis (pc wise).

The rest, ill have to resort to renting until I get enough spare cash to swoop them all up :devilish:

Bioshock (PC)
MGS4 (if I decide on PS3)
Blue Dragon (If I decide on 360)
Mario Galaxy (when I find a Wii)

Same here. ;)

Only got a PS3 right now. Ratchet and Clank is definite, MGS4 Import if it has English subtitles otherwise that's next year, UT2k7 if it has USB mouse and keyboard support as well as support for PC maps and mods as rumored. Lots of other great looking games that will hopefully play as good as they look. I dunno looks like a lot of good stuff is coming out for every system. This should be a good Fall/Winter all around.

1. Mass Effect
2. Bioshock
3. Assassin's Creed
4. GTA4
5. Halo 3
6. Splinter Cell: Conviction
7. Blue Dragon
8. Eternal Sonata
9. Call of Duty 4
10. Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway.

Now, I'm not rich, so I have to space this out to no more than one a month. I know Bioshock and Blue Dragon come out in August. Between those I'll pick Bioshock first.

Then we got Halo 3 in Sep. GTA 4 in Oct. and Assasin's Creed in Nov. I'm not sure about the release dates of the other games but if they overlap I'll wait a few months until I finish the ones I have bought. Some of them will even have to wait until they go down a bit in price.

Mass Effect doesn't have a date yet does it?

Must buy is a little strong, I always like to see some reviews first.

That being said, I have two games paid in full; Halo 3 and Ninja Gaiden Sigma. (pre-orders can still be cancled or returned)

Warhawk, the best surprise I had in years

I don't want to insult the game by listing others, but very very likely :
MGS4 (definite if it comes)
new Hot Shot/Everybody's Golf
HL2 Combo

likely:
R&C
Uncharted
UT3

eventually:
Bioshock (PC)
Folklore
Heavenly Sword
COD4
Mass Effect (PC  )

So many games. So little time.

I suppose I have to get Halo 3, Blue Dragon, Mass Effect, and Splinter Cell: Conviction, but there are a bunch of other ones I'll eventually get as well. I don't even have Forza 2 yet. Ugh.

Monster Hunter 2 PSP, After spending oer 400 hours with the first one I know I'll be saying goodbye to my social life after this comes out.

Eye of Judgement, other than MH2 my most anticipated game if the game mechanics are deep enough (but I'll probably buy it anyways)
Heavenly Sword
Dirt/Sega Rally Evo either one will do, haven't decided yet
Assassin's Creed
F1 CE if they ever release a force feedback patch.
Warhawk, if the price is right

There is to many big titles coming out. Here is my list thought, i will not buy them if they get bad reviews etc, or if the game is completely different than promised:

1. Mass Effect
2. Assassins Creed
3. GTA4
4. CoD4
5. Bad Company (given good MP and the destructable environments they are talking about)
6. Lost Odyssey
7. Blue Dragon

In order of awesomeness:

Mass Effect
Bioshock
Assassin's Creed
Lost Odyssey
Halo 3
GTA 4
Blue Dragon
Too Human
Splinter Cell: Conviction
Brothers in Arms
NHL 2008 (well I'm gonna buy it so I may as well add it to the list!)

umm...wow. Tons of games.

if I had a PS3, I'd definately pick up:
- Uncharted
- R&C
- Heavenly Sword
- Ninja Gaiden (never played the first much)

I've been trying not to look at launch scheds too closely because I... get... worked up. :)

However, based on the replies here I've made some decisions:

Mass Effect (even though I loathe rpg-ing)
Bioshock
Assassin's Creed
GTA4
Heavenly Sword
Warhawk (missed the beta :()
Uncharted
Ratchet & Clank
LBP (thanks @rabid!)

I have a feeling that this is only the tip of the iceberg though...
