The Witness. Not the most technically advanced game, but it's gorgeous (and addictive)!

It's a slightly less impressive acomplishment when you remember how well the ps360 versions hold up aa well. Still, the AA is a great, and very needed, addition

My gf had it on PS3 at the time, and while that version was absolutely playable, it really didn't hold up all that well. Sure, most of the game's visual embellishments were in that version as well, but you also got loads of framerate problems, a sub 720p resolution, no motion blur, tearing, low-res textures (decals liket he graffiti in particular) and awfully long loading times. It wasn't a Watch Dogs or Shadows of Mordor debacle by any means, but it was still one of those cross-gen games that seemed like it was primarily made for the newer platforms and then stripped down in order to run on the older machines.

So while Alien Isolation was certainly no Witcher 3 in terms of how much of a porting headache it must have been, just how well it was ported over is impressive nonetheless. It was probably very helpful that Feral were already very familiar with the game as they also handled the PC version which was very well optimized.

All of that stuff is still there and it looks splendid.
Such a terrific game too. My 2014 goty actually. And now I can play it while crapping myself ... on the crapper.

New Game Pass Quests for Microsoft Rewards Points has got me playing different playing games again. Been playing these...

    • The Gardens Between, it's a id@Xbox game, kinda weird, but neat puzzle game, might go back to this
    • Old Man's Journey, another weird id@Xbox game, don't think I will go back to it
    • Enter the Gungeon - kinda like Gauntlet, played past the tutorial, not bad, if it has online co-op I could back
    • Superhot - finished the single player & played some of endless mode, got Portal & Braid vibes, it's really odd, but really liked it, probably won't come back to endless mode
    • Monster Hunter World - still working on this, definitely not my kinda game, but I think I beat my first large monster, I need 2 for +100 points, deleting right after I get the points LOL
BTW, if you haven't been using the mobile Game Pass app I would. You can track all the quests there or in your GamerTag profile on the Xbox dashboard. There are single, weekly & monthly quests. That's on top of any quests you can do in the Xbox Microsoft Rewards app. I've been getting about 400 points a day, sometimes over 500. And that's not spending any money other than the Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Got enough in the past 78 days to get a $50 Xbox gift card. I think I will hoard the points & cash in when there's a Hot Deal on the gift cards. Might have enough to put a pretty good deposit on Scarlett before it comes out.

jedi fallen order. not far in, and definitely taking my sweet time, but liking it so far, a lot for a single player game, for example much better than my last sp game gears 5.. it will take me weeks at this pace of both not putting in a ton of playtime and trying to explore everything.

I finised DMC V a couple of days ago. I didn't enjoy V's gameplay much. Dante and Nero were more fun. The focus was segmented between three stories and characters so it barely game me a chance to go deep with the gameplay and skillsets of any of them. The game has normal length in total, but cutting the gameplay and story in three made it feel like 3 small games with a hasty story telling. A shame because DMC V's gameplay mechanics are top. Tt brought back elements from the original, like enemies and weapons. It also had many references to the original for those that are attentive. I wish it had more emphasis to depth and more memorable locations though. The visuals are worthy of admiration. The animation, the details, the effects and the art are packed with super high quality work. It is worth noting that I found Virgil's presentation super cool. The guys who worked on the game's presentation are certainly the cream of the crop. Some changes would have made it perfect. In general I enjoyed it a lot.

I also finished The Order 1886. What a shame. The visuals are simply outstanding. Art is super. If only the gameplay was right. This is the perfect example of a walking simulator. Loved the visuals, loved the story, loved the characters, loved the concept, the gameplay killed it. Actually it slaughtered it. The game takes you by the hand and limits the player to the extreme in a very linear path where you can't even hold your gun, or walk at a faster pace if the game doesnt want you. The latter was probably a simple design choice to make the game last longer than it should. It feels rushed. The few action sequences were also broken. You were pinned down to a spot where you just shoot at spawning enemies with limited strategic ability. What a shame because this franchise had so much potential. The game leaves you wanting for a sequel since it feels like an intro to a much more interesting plot. It surely gives a hint that the later story line was already drafted. So disappointing that the sales were not high enough to fix the problems in a sequel and finish the story. The developers have put a lot of artistic and technical talent into it that unfortunately will never get the appreciation they deserved due to a bad game design.

And now I am playing Resi 2 Remake which so far I love it. It is much harder than the original I must say. In the original I could avoid being bitten much easier and my bullets would almost always land on their target. Now precision is much more important, zombies are much harder to die, and they have a far bigger reach. I am playing in normal and it feels like I am playing on hard.

Ugh the only points I can use with fake US address was Nintendo points.

Ms points and Sony rewards points doesn't work.

Anyway, playing beat saber again. Man, PSVR is really comfortable

Infamous Second Son infamous playthrough. I had forgotten how good the environmental traversal and combat was, especially as infamous when you don't have to concern yourself with the fate of civilians or police.

wasn't reading this thread for a few days now. For the PS4? If the Broken Sword classics are available for the PS4, the remastered versions, you can't fail with those. Dunno if it is on consoles, but The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav -which you can find at Gog- is a recent adventure that I quite enjoyed not much time ago and managed to complete it.

    Life is Strange.... Thimbleweed Park.

While I havent played most of them, you have a great list of adventure games here. The PS4 is a pretty good console for that genre.
