i still can't get in to forums from work. though today, i WAS able to take a look around for about 5-10 minutes, then it went away while i was in the forums. still i can get on from home.

db unhappiness? which db do you run? Oracle? im a DBA (newish, working on certification). lateral promotion at work (beat being layed off...15 souls...)

anyway, where i work, there is NO excuse for losing data. no backup strategy? you not running in archive log mode?...and apparently only a weekly or less frequent backup? no incrementals? no hot backups?

what was the crash, disk failure?

    come on...you can tell me.

    people get banned from here?

Since today, I get a massive amount of JavaScript errors, that make the forum really slow. All of them about "vb* not defined" or "excessive recursion".

:D If you don't have debugging tools installed and active, you would simply think that the forum "is a bit sluggish". ;) Edit: And it just borked the layout.

I've figured it out, it's Rys' secret plan to cull the members list and to improve the signal to noise ratio!

He figures only the truly dedicated will put up with it. User hatefulness as a business strategy. :yep2:

I seem to be getting some odd glitches on Opera (browser)

Like a bunch of spammed emotes will be plastered all over my screen, sometimes it other icons but the amount of spam onscreen remains.

    Works fine on FireFox though...

Have you tried flushing your DNS cache and browser cache? It could be your work has a caching proxy setup which for whatever reason is holding on to the invalid info.

well i've rebooted since, if that would take care of it. i always keep my "clear private data" clear (several times a day).

it's odd, but 2 times now, i've been able to get into the forums from work, yet after about 5 minutes, it kicks me back to the "we're working on it" message.

    what could that mean?

But the time seems to be a bit off...
According to my watch it is now about 00:15 GMT+1, but when I now posted this it said 00:50...
Maybe time to reset the server time again?

We're already working on that. Apparently our first fix didn't exactly fix it.

Ah, ok. Just didn't really notice it until yesterday, so thought I'd let you know.

Keep up the good work :)
