Using Y splitter on soundcards.

Hello,

simple question .. using a Y splitter on my soundcard to plug speakers + headphones ... any bad sides ? loosing any quality or anything i should be aware of ?!

It does alter the impendance of the output, but it doesn't necesserily have to be problematic.

If you have no buzzing/humming/whatever introduced through that, it should be no problem. You can easily find that out when you compare the sound quality with a single cable vs. Y-cable. Do what your ears tell you.

Usually speakers have a headphone plug, ever thought of that?

speakers require line level signal, headphones require amplified signal/output

if you have a (minimum) 4 channel sound card try having headphones plugged into front and speakers into rear channels
