Unlocking Oculus Go

So it looks like they're giving root access and a new OS for the Oculus Go soon, does that mean I should be looking around for one to pick up cheap since they're discontinued? Could this make it more practical?

I'm still not even a VR noob yet, so I have nothing to go on. Any input is appreciated, it looked like it could be a thing but I really don't have a clue.

Get a quest 1 at the very least, 3DOF is not suited for good VR.

Depending on how cheaply a Go can be acquired, it might be interesting. But I've used one and I returned it. The visuals aren't so hot with that very limited hardware and yeah the controls / tracking are restrictive.

And forget that "I'm gonna watch Netflix inside my VR thing and it will be awesome" thought process. It's far more pleasant to watch 2D stuff on a TV.

My opinion is watch for a cheap Samsung Odyssey+ or Oculus Quest perhaps.

Go is more for a virtual theater. If you are looking for a dive into vr, A quest 1 or psvr (with pc or PS4) is a minimum IMO
