Time on my hands

First of this has been a daily stop for me since 03 or so, thank you all for the knowledge you have indirectly sent my way.

Anyway this is akin to the "Getting Started" thread posted earlier.
I have been around computers all my life, my first job was in the late 80's building the bastards, then I went from there.

Like many of you videocards/gpu's are what held my interest.
It seems I am going to have damn near a year home with the kids, time on my hands.
So I would like to dig deep into this, for myself.. I have no illusions of grandeur. I like to drink and know things.

Going to muck about with the unreal engine for the hell of it with this time, but I want to understand what is going on, not just how to make a tree sway in the wind reflecting upon a pool of koi.

I have Real-Time Rendering 3rd edition on the way.
Any sites, papers or advice that would ease me into that imposing bastard?

Thank you

It might be a little obvious, but check out the Real-Time Rendering website (I'm a bit new here and am not allowed to post links yet). It seems to have a wealth of resources to augment the book
