    Nintendo’s controller-less vision continues

Very scant information was available when Mawaru Made In Wario was first announced for the GBA last week, other than it was a sequel to the much-loved Wario Ware Inc. mini-game extravaganza. It has now been revealed that, much like other titles in its family, Mawaru Made In Wario will be packed with a plethora of miniature entertainments: 200 of them to be precise.

More surprising is the news that Wario Ware 2 can be played without actually using the GBA’s controls. In a similar vein to Kirby Tilt’n’Tumble, the game cartridge itself will contain a motion-sensing device: so completing levels will involve tilting, jolting and shaking the GBA accordingly.

Here’s the Japanese promotional flyer for your perusal – make of it what you will. The game itself is due for release in October: we should have more information regarding the precise content of the mini-games prior to that date

man spong is the dumbest site ever. how is not using the buttons on the GBA "removing" the controller? if it's somethign you hold to control the actions on a TV screen, it's a controller.

No, they don't. It's actually very impressive considering alleged tri-core CPU's vector processing capabilities. All that power for pixel shading should end up being something very powerful.

Hmmm, Panajev, do you post there with a username starting with 'P' and ending with 'y'? :D

Well, for one, surely Xbox games talk to DirectX, rather than directly to the NV2A hardware, so Nvidia would have nothing to do with it?

Secondly, do you actually have to license the x86 ISA? Because I can't see why Intel would ever have given a license to, for example, AMD. Plus, if you do need a license, MS own Virtual PC which presumably means they'd already have one...

I guess that would be the case for many games, but not those coded more "to the metal" so to speak (hate that term). Some games ARE designed around the singularities of the Xbox GPU, with proprietary Nvidia shaders and instructions which could potentially be difficult to emulate, that's all.

Doom 3 is one of those isn't it? They somehow got it to do rendering in 4 passes instead of 7 or something....:?:

Halo 2 should be another.... All the Team Ninja games probably.....

Why do you find 3-cores hard to believe? Technically the EE is a 3-core processor (granted not SMP, but it's still 3 discreet processing cores)... And you're going to have to elaborate more on the AltiVec bandaid thingy too...

Hmmm, well I'll give them credit that they mentioned all three process technologies in one sentence, 'cause it's not the first processor to use the first two. And there's quite a few cases where a Power4 (or really more specifically Power4+) can spank a 970FX...

Actually iTMS isn't much of a money making cow, it barely makes a profit. The store exists as a service to push iPods (where the real money is made), so unless MS does indeed have an iPod killer the only genuine significant revenue generator I would see would be WMA royalties off of an increase in devices supporting the store.

Again with the "Power architectures"... Anyways I guess I should point out that there's no current version of VPC that runs on the 970 (at least commercially, of course MS could have one internally)...

The Nvidia stuff I can understand, but why x86? VPC already does a damn fine job of emulating it...

Hehe, never seen before? Sounds suspiciously like RenderWare Platform marketing material... :p

I would love to hear why AltiVec is supposedly a band-aid, too.

Cool Aid doesn't win console cycles.

Its a band aid becuase you don't need general speed any more. Its like turbo charging a a four cylinder engine instead of droping in an eight cylinder engine for a sports car. The bulk of clock cycles are going to be spent on multimedia functions. So why not have something like a PIM architecture accelerating vector operations instead of having it bolted onto a old style CPU?[/code]
