The War Z Mess: Every Crazy Detail We Know So Far
This week's wildest story is the story of The War Z, a new Steam game that has caused a great deal of controversy for numerous reasons.

This afternoon, The War Z was pulled from Steam.

Fans have come out criticizing the zombie survival game for misleading advertising, suspicious microtransactions, and forum censorship. Meanwhile, The War Z's developers have defended themselves, telling us that "93% of [their] customers like the game."

It's a bizarre mess that we've been following closely and will continue to follow as this week goes on. Here's everything we know about The War Z so far.

Controversy led the developers to change the game's Steam description.

War Z” trademark SUSPENDED - Game will have to be renamed

The trademark application by OP Productions for the name “War Z” has been SUSPENDED because the trademark office feels that the name is too similar to the name of Paramount Pictures upcoming movie “World War Z”.

This guys maybe made wrong things but why does Paramount Pictures name has precedence to their game name, it came first after all so imo it was the movie that should change the name not the other way around.

World War Z is a book that was published over 5 years ago. It pre-dates the "game" by some margin.

The game is clearly a cash grab. A poorly executed attempt to cash in on the attention of the Day Z mod. The fact that it's named deliberately to confuse people who are interested in either the book/film or the standalone Day Z game isn't a coincidence.

The movie gets it's name rights from the book of the same name, which pre-dates the name WarZ.
