Well just wait for some reviews to pop up, not previews, before having a final judge.

Looking at the memory they're using, it still does pretty darn well to beat a GTX512mb in quite a few occasions, i still think the extra bandwidth of the GTX512 is helping it get a bit more out of certain tasks. I think there is plenty of room for a XTX when nvidia launch their G71, i think the issue is just availability of 1800mhz memory. Probably see some higher speed binned R580 that can hit 700mhz later, they can launch the XTX with 700mhz and 1800mhz memory, should be plenty fast to take on a G71.

XTX has already shipped to some people. See my rage3d link a few posts up, he has a pic of the XTX box in the thread also.

    Thanks, frontpaged.

Rys, why is the whole review italicized? It makes it harder to read, I have to strain me ancient eyes. :(

Eeek, It's not for me. CTRL+F5, we may have tweaked a stylesheet here and there recently.

Would someone care to explain the graphs to me? I'm assuming 'X1900XTX Base' refers to the minimum FPS and is represented by the bar graph, while the regular 'X1900XTX' is average FPS and the line graph? Am I way off again?

I think base means no filters (the line) and the bar is with filters applied.

Yes, line = No AA/AF, column plot = AA/AF applied. It's a fairly pants way of graphing them, I agree, but it'll do for the time being

Ok, why is the R580 performing better at AA+AF than the R520?

The hardware has not changed in this area (has it?), and they are using slower ram.

    I smell a rat.

As in Performance improvements that could be used on both cards but are being locked out of use on R520, just to inflate the R580 scores, because they needed something to show an improvement in real world games.

I am sure there is someone here smart enough to prove or disprove that theory.

I'm using FF 1.0.7 and it's still coming up all italicized after refreshing a few different pages a few times. :???:

I'm not complaining, I just didn't think you were aware of it...I couldn't see ya doing it intentionally unless you were in a REALLY evil mood:

EVIL RYS: "Yes, yes...I will release my review early, but make it painfully to read. Then I shall gloat and laugh at the peons sufferings!!!!"

The hardware isn't bound in performance by the AA or AF applied, so performance can still scale elsewhere.
