The Official, Long Awaited, TV Shows Thread

Game of Thrones was soft porn for people who refuse to watch real porn. The books were kind of terrible, tv-series was fine considering the pretty package it came in.

You pretty much described Banshee, Warrior, Spartacus, and Brave New World. The first two of those are great. The last one, BNW, ended up rather meh.

I'm not sure how regular porn is a substitute for a show like Game of Thrones. The idea that a show that doesn't shy away from portraying nudity and sex is just porn gives me the impression of a 12 year old getting all flustered over pictures of boobs.

Thanks for reminding me about Banshee, I've been meaning to watch that series. Looking forward to starting Warrior as well sometime.

Violence porn more than anything though. But above everything the series is about character development, and has some very good acting to make the most of it. The very adult oriented fantasy setting is basically just a vehicle for this.

First 2 seasons are not the best. Neither the last 2 unfortunately.

Wait for the remastered Game of Thrones for the the last 2 seasons as those are not based on the books.

I disagree, I think GoT did a great job of establishing itself into the blockbuster it would become.

Most viewers didn’t read the books so they came into it cold — including myself.

They set up the good guys and villains right away. Joffrey became so instantly despicable.

Then the Red Wedding. How can anyone say that that is boring? Even the ones who read the books felt the impact. Was supposedly huge on social media when it aired.

There are documentaries out there. One showed a huge crowd in Spain where they were filming. Those fans memorized lines of dialog in English. They screamed when the actors came out to greet them.

they turned a bunch of unknown actors into the Beatles almost.

game of thrones is the best fantasy series on tv ever
granted most of the competition has been shit but hey

the last season at least went too fast, and they glossed over a lot of stuff but the cost of the show and scope of the books i can kinda see it
i just wish they had taken it slower in the final season, maybe doubled the episodes

unlike brit i am expecting books. grrm has been in his fortress of solitude writing during the pandemic

I was addicted to GoT for the first couple seasons, then it just seemed to meander all over and break the laws of physics with characters traveling too much for me to enjoy.

Not ashamed to admit I gave it up, but from what I've heard about how it ended I didn't miss much.

Great possibilities massively squandered, and it was too porny for me at times. Nothing against porn, all for that as long as it's consensual with no underage people and no one is getting hurt...but it seemed to be a bit too gratuitously thrown in a lot.

Of course it's still the best series of its kind. But that last season was so bad compared to the rest it changed the opinion I had on the whole show.

I dont see the porn in season 1, some small nudity. I was mostly just talk and each show had to end on some 'oh how could they!' cliffhanger, which spoils the writing because you are putting constraints on the writers, (this is the best scene now you cant put it in where it makes most sense for the plot, it has to go at the end of the show to keep the viewers wanting to come back)

Also hilariously you've got the 'bad' royal family (the one with the blond boy king) and the 'good' royal family, sean bean being the head of the family. Yet thegood family dont seem to worry too much sending 2000 warriors to their certain deaths if they could get back their king, after all 1 royal-blood life vs 2000 commoner lives, is a no contest.

Zack Snyder Cut of Justice League

Most will hate it because it uses 4:3 (1.33) ratio meant for IMAX and everyone is watching it at home on widescreen displays. It is formatted as a full 1920x1080 frame so most zoom features do not function if played through media players like VLC/Emby/Plex.

But this is for the Movie topic...

oh god that's even worse. I really hate 21:9 trailers and such on YouTube that are uploaded in a 16:9 container so on my ultrawide are boxed in small.

TV show question: I haven't watched The Flash since about the middle of last season. I still have been getting them, just haven't seemed to be interested since it seemed to go a bit meandering. Is it worth watching the second half of season 6 and how's season 7?
