IF i'm buying a R600, I'll likely buy just one for now.. as long as it's faster than my current CF setup - but i'm interested about CF R600 requirements for future reference, cause i'd rather not swap my mobo and PSU :p

In most cases, a 2900XT will outperform your X1950 XTX's in CF, now 2900XT CF works on 975x in 8x+8x, you'd better wait for Intel P35 chipset board for 16x+16x.

Here in sweden you can get two XT for the same price as an Ultra, Well, if the price won't change till monday:shock:. You don't think two XT in X-Fire will beat one Ultra?

    P35 is also a 8X+8X not 16X+16X.

    LOL...

I am more relaxed now after going out and having some bier (maybe too much?).

These days even a lurker like me has a hard time.

PS: Damn bier is cheaper than water in germany....

Depends if Crossfire is ready to go or not. I was thinking the samething though. 2 XT's = Ultra's price and depending on the benchmarks monday, I would think the XT's leave the one ultra in the dust.

Which begs me to qustion. Why for some odd reason with all the "benchmarks" leaked, have we not seen any crossfire perfomance?

In the text it says ASUS's P5W DH Deluxe, maybe they copied and pasted from the old review:roll:

Is this going to be R520: part 2?
First it was suppose to be amazing
    Then it got delayed
Right before launch we heard from various sources about how it'll be give n' take between the x1800xtx and 7800GTX
Then this was rebuttled with "it's a driver issue. wait for better drivers!"
This was followed by the rumours of a faster part coming only a few months after
The x1800xtx was quickly dethroned and forgotten about with the release of the x1900 series

Does this sound about right to anyone else?

"wouda coulda shoulda" aside, if the R600 clearly does not show it's muscle by hanging with or outdoing the G80, it'll look quite foolish for Ati. They've had plenty of time and need to leave the excuses at the door. Monday we find out. Can't wait!

Big difference, R520 was actually pretty damn fast.

Dont know why people keep forgetting that. Probably because of that 7800 512 paper edition Nvidia released shortly thereafter.

It looks like R600 cant even keep up with Nvidia's 2nd string part. So that's in no way comparable to R520 which was faster than 7800GTX especially in more demanding games.

Not at its launch. It was win some by a few percent, lose some by a few percent at launch. Later it was win most/lose few and when it won it was by a decent amount.

Without AA enabled, maybe, but as soon as AA was turned on, the X1800 became substantially faster (in Direct3D games at least).

What about the conclusion about image quality they talk about?

I'm sorry, but isn't this conclusion of theirs just plain stupid ?

It would only be natural that it would perform better on a 975, since it's underlying CPU (Core 2) has a faster architecture than the one of the Athlon 64 X2 that runs on any NF590 SLI... ;)

A much better comparison would be a R600 operating on an Intel 975X and on a Nvidia 680i SLI.
At least the CPU could be the same.
