Wouldn't blame you at all for wanting to get that off your chest.

The "no lead time for the press" is the bit I find most entertaining though.

Forget all the hologram crap, there's really only 1 question to answer.

If you supposedly ran all the tests yourself, why does it look like all your results are copied almost EXACTLY from computerbase.de review HERE?

Of course they could post a pic of a black bar but that would be a bit disappointing wouldn't it..?

Those have been covered a number of pages back and were used back then to give level505's test results more credibility..!

Just a few more days and then we'll know more, and I'm betting you they've got the real thing.. :)

Have we not learned from SS incident last year? Ignore the flames and you wont fan the fire.

The tag is supposedly glued around the DVI ports, right ?
So, why not show the card now slightly blurred or whatever ?
    What's the holdup ?

Yes, I know this was stated a few pages back but noone's really answered it yet. And how does listing these exact numbers from another site give this new site's scores credibility? Only if level505 is somehow related to computerbase.de, then I can see some credibility, otherwise none at all. And IF they're related why hide your sites registration, etc? I mean anyone(meaning AMD) can clearly see what they did. How are you so sure these R600 benchmarks are the real deal? I would believe more when I actually see pic of the die with the new card posted on this level505 site.

When that happens in the movie world it is invariably the sign of a mutt that the studios want to minimize the press' ability to warn people away from. So I think it wouldn't be a very good sign, if true (which I have no reason today to believe it is true).

The seeming big gaffe here by 505 being this driver for vista made to work on xp. Is it possible Itd be a catalyst driver with both sets of xp and vista drivers? Or maybe a dx 9 driver that could work on both os's? I wouldve thought only a dx10 driver wouldnt work on xp...

If level505 would be bullshit it's still quite entertaining bullshit and remember this is still The ATI R600 Rumours & Speculation Centrum !

I don't doubt the usual suspects will cobble-together something headline worthy over a weekend. Just desserts for all their kvetching over the hard-launch/soft-launch palaver.

If you have enough product to hardlaunch with, then the reason to keep the press away until the last moment would have to be something else.

Ok here's a question for anyone that knows how the validation process works.

If the card was intended for driver validation does it even need to run at full speed? Could it just be an early spin with significantly lowered clocks that is only intended to show that all the DX10 features work?

All of a sudden everyone is unhappy with their 8800GTX and its 20fps.. upgrade to R600 and donate your crappy 8800GTX to me :)

All this discussion over faked benchmark and specs.... pretty neat huh?

Yeah because the 8800GTX does not perform 105GSOP/S!!!11

Seriously tho, I can't wait to see what the r600 is capable of. The lack of great looking and fun PC games is another story.

Or maybe it's because, as you've drawn out at some length, getting the press organised requires 4-6 weeks of notice, and getting the press organised when you're not 100% sure what you've got is gonna work is maybe premature. As long as there's stuff to buy it's a hard launch, nobody said anything about quantity. Or, which variant - Level 505 would have us believe an "XL" is going to turn up first.

Hey I'm making it up as I go along. It's all a fun diversion from FLOPs and pipes and ROPs, this hype.

Yep, if the card is real, there's no reason why it's full speed, nor that it's the full set of pipelines. R600s have been around for a few months, supposedly.

In fact it could be a midrange part for all we know. Old rumours suggested that ATI would be releasing multiple R6xx GPUs in the same window, though that's pretty woolly.

Driver validation doesn't require the full-specification GPU, nor RAM. On the other hand, there might be parts of the Vista hardware certification process that require each variant of hardware to be submitted. Dunno.
