TFT Reccomendations

A friend of mine is in the market for a 19" TFT. Not knowing much about this, I can't really advise him what brands and models to look at, only the usual vague advice of contrast ratios and response times...

So, if anyone else has any better ideas, I'm open to them. I believe his price range is £400-500.

I love my Planar 19" LCD; 1280x1024 with fast enough response times to not have noticable ghosting in games.

I'ce been hearing great things about the Sceptre 19" Naga-II monitors. Newegg.com is selling them for $500 shipped.

Not sure about conversion rates, but Dell's 21" LCD is amazing; 1600x1200 with 16ms response times. They currently have it on sale for $750 USD.

Price? this thread is sooooooooooo gonna make me buy a new LCD monitor i just know it. Damn you guys.

Ick, on the view angles on that NEC one with 16ms response times. Heh I still like my SyncMaster 171P and their 21.3" LCD's are nice for non-games (haven't been playing games at the Lab I work at to find that one out).

Definately though an LCD needs a 170 degree viewing angle for a desktop.

A wide VA is nice but why would you need 170 degrees? Why would you even need 130 degrees? 99.9% of people turn/angle LCDs toward themselves not at the wall... ;)
