Something I thought of this morning. After reading that France has received bloody terrorist threats regarding the implementation of their ban on headscarves. Would a terrorist attack on French civilians change the policy of banning headscarves? or no?

PARIS, France (CNN) -- French police have opened an investigation after a Paris newspaper received a letter from a Muslim group threatening spectacular attacks that would make "blood run to (its) borders."

One question that begs to be asked is if Americans suffer another terrorist attack would they simply blame the current administration for failing on security as well as give up on the war on terror or renew their resolve to continue a war on terror.

Terrorism is nothing new to France. They havent changed their policy before and I dont see why they would now... France didnt hesitate to join the war on terrorism in Afghanistan. Theres no reason to think it wouldnt follow the leads from another terrorist act elsewhere. I also dont think Spain will let up in its search of why Moroccans and Indians were involved and I dont think they will leave any stone unturned if it leads them to Morocco (if such is the case).

The issue from your point of vue is of course were any Iraqis involved. ;)

I believe France will stay it's course.

I don't think the majority of Americans will blame the administration when another terrorist attack occurs on US soil.

Of course there will always be people saying the administration could have done this and that from a hindsight perspective.

I voted no.

Well French know what are they doing and why... terrorist attack can only isolate the "french" fundamentalists more. Not a good thing but that would happen IMHO.

What if cell connections are found to extend to other terrorist groups involved in international terrorism? For example have connections with the group that has recently attacked Spain.

What were the last few terrorist attacks in france? I cant remember anything in the last decade or two.

Just because they may not have occured in the last decade or 2 doesn't mean terrorism has never occured in France.
People terrorise each other every day anyway.

Well they do. :p

I terrorise my neighbours when I walk out the front door naked at 6AM every morning to get some fresh air.

they had plenty of bombings and kills by the algerians in the 80's and 90's AFAIK, I don't know when was the last one, but it has been quiet for a while I think.

here is an interesting article on French dealings with it

Thank you. I was asking so that i could get a better view of what might or might not go through the minds a typical french person after a terror attack.

thanks again

Fair enough. Can't say my knowledge of the history of terrorism in France was particularly detailed - only that I knew they'd had their fair share.

I know we french are all cowards but well, we had terrorist attacks for decades and it did not change anything. In fact it was François Miterrand (you know what we call a socialist and what you call a dangerous communist ) that gave orders to catch or kill Carlos at any cost after his attacks.

Terrorism dont expect to make you really change your politic, they just expect to strengthen the extremits in both camps.
