This issue of Famitsu X-BOX has covered Tenchu 3 for X-BOX, they claim that it is not a straight port, the graphics is much better and with X-BOX Live! support for co-operated play.

The PS2 version already looks great, the screens of the X-BOX version seem to look better with more detail and AA.

And BTW, there are some sales numbers in the chart

Hardware sales for Sep/15-Oct/19 is 3136, accumulated total is 407735.

DOA3 is still #6 in the chart (1761 copies) for the above period and accumulated total is 212796, the top of the chart is Ghost Recon which has sold 4725 copies since 25/Sep. Halo has sold 76963 copies and is now one of the Platinum collections.

Splinter Cell will be released on Nov/27.

The top 10 in the Top 20 wanted ports are
1. Final Fantasy series (213 votes)
2. Biohazard series (132)
3. Metal Gear Solid series (91)
4. Shemune series (89)
5. Dragon Quest series (87)
6. Super Robot war series (80)
7. Sakura war series (55)
8. Devil may cry series (35)
9. Virtual On series (33)
10. Tales series (Tales of xxxx) (32)

Xbox, duh.
Like i said, most, if not all, PS2 -> Xbox ports run and look better.

I can only say for Tenchu 3, it SEEMS to be better as the shots are not big enough to really distinguish anything.

Straight (lazy) ports are not at all better from PS2 to X-BOX and vice versa.

Multi-platform game is another issue.

edit: added lazy to be more exact

.

From what i see,

straight Xbox -> PS2 = terrible
straight PS2 -> Xbox = up to 90% and more accuracy.

From early TenchuX screens, it looks like it gotten a boost in resolution and filtering. More clean and smooth now, even though there are hints of PS2-ish texture problems.

Just like NFS:HP? :devilish: It depends a lot on the effort put into porting.

NFSHP isnt even a PS2 -> Xbox port. More like PC -> Xbox.

Wouldn't that make it easier? Heh... Effort and developer talent makes or breaks a port, whatever the direction.

Yes and no. You can only go so far in porting from a higher level hardware to a lower level hardware.

So it is developer + hardware, the latter in which several people frequently love to leave out, for whatever reasons known only to them. ;)

Doesnt exactly has to be AA titles, just titles that make use of the hardware. For instance, a game can use pixel effects, multitexturing, many hires 512x512(or something) textures and whatnot, it gets harder to replicate the accuracy on lower level hardware.

since we're talking tech AA refers to efficient use of the base hardware. frankly there are alot of titles in the past which were real resource hogs which made porting to any mem limted platform a real btch.

Tenchu 4? so soon?

so soon, with respect to what ?? This gen, we already got 3 Moto Gp from Namco, 4 dynasty warriors, etc

That's Tenchu Kurenai, only 2004 is specified for the release date. From the latest issue of Famitsu PS2, it is only 10% completed. I can see some flashy reflections on the floor from a pic, and the models are pretty detailed.
