To address the chaotic muddle of rumours and business talk, we've put into place a very clear structure - each new platform has technical investigation and general discussion threads.

Everything about the platform, services, and business model:
Durango news and rumours
Orbis news and rumours

Hardware rumours and investigation:
Durango technical investigation
Orbis technical investigation

You may notice no comparison discussion of the platforms. That's because there isn't one. Not yet. Any comparison between platforms in either of those threads will be reprimanded and, if repeated, the poster exiled until post E3. We haven't enough information to make comparisons and all comparison discussion at the moment degenerates into rumour talk. So there'll be a forced wait until there's enough info to compare business propositions and hardware, and an official comparison threads created. This may be after the XB Meet, or E3, when we feel there's enough to base sensible discussion on. Tech comparison can be opened much sooner when we have enough info.

Any specific topics should be started in their own threads, of course. Game and engine threads, hardware cost and specifics threads, hardware discussion threads (what does xxx hardware contribute to a platform).

update - Discussing sources is deemed taboo!

E3 is been and gone, but silly season just stretches on for the time being and there's need to address another problem affecting the board, which is the sources for rumours.

All rumours/news articles have a source, and the integrity of all sources can be discussed. However, whenever such 'discussions' arise, they take over the actual intended discussion. Although ordinarily a little 'this site is/isn't to be trusted' is normal and healthy, some people are clearly so emotional that they have little interest in discussing anything other than such source prejudices when it comes to the consoles.

As such, it's deemed that consideration of a source's integrity is currently taboo. It's left to people to make their own minds up without sharing their wisdom here. If you wish to determine whether a site or source is to be trusted or not, you'll have to talk about it elsewhere or via PMs.

Thanks you for your cooperation on this matter (and see you in a fortnight if that's asking too much ;))
