    to clarify - the program downloaded and installed fine, but i guess vmware fusion 2 doesn't support something that the program needs. it loads up, but mostly blank screen with sound effects

    Well, I don't have to be afraid that this game is going to stress my PC anytime soon. My HD4870 and Core 2 Duo (3.33 GHz) scored 5927 points, at a resolution of 1920x1200, all settings to maximum. The benchmark suggested to increase my settings. LOL, it can't go higher. ;)

    This is a nice little tool and its clear the engine is pretty well optimised. My C2D @ 2.4Ghz and 8800GTS 640MB averaged 32.3fps with everything as high as it would go, i.e. 1920x1200 with 16xQCSAA + 16xAF.

    For playing though I would probably stick with only 16x CSAA as the average framerate then goes up to about 40fps.

    I would like to see how this game plays on the DX9 generation GPU's. I suspect very well.

    What framerate does the console version run at?

    This is such a tease! I was going to pick it up on the week of release but now I think I'm going to stand in line on release day. :razz:

    Cheers. To maintain 60fps I need to drop the resolution to 1280x800 but I can keep the 16xQ CSAA and 16xAF on by the looks of it... nice!

    PC version also sports improved effects, rendering quality and extra graphical stuff.

    If you guys don't like watching the last part with the World Warriors in a circle then open the .ini @ C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\CAPCOM\STREETFIGHTERIVBENCHMARK and under the "[BENCHMARK]" heading edit the key/val:

    Type=BATTLE+DEMO

    to

    Type=BATTLE

    or if you just want to watch the WW circle put in:

    Type=DEMO

    What is higher quality? AA at 8x or C16xQ?

    Anyway, I maxed the settings and ran it at my native res of 1920x1200 with vsync on. Got an A, average framerate almost 60.

    Looked great, ran great but the guy singing the theme tune or whatever ... Wow, that was bad. Really, really bad.

    My specs: i7 920@3.2 GHz, GTX285, 6 GB DDR3-1600, 3 GB usable in WinXP32SP3.

    16xQCSAA is 8xMSAA + 8 more coverage samples, so it is better than regular 8xMSAA. 16xCSAA (without the Q) is 4xMSAA + 12 coverage samples, which depending on the circumstances can look better or worse than true 8xMSAA.

    When you say "almost 60" do you mean like ~59 fps? If so I suspect you have a lot more under the hood and your just being limited by vsync or the frame limiter which doesn't seem to ever hit a rock solid 60fps.

    Baring in mind i'm getting over 30fps on my old 8800GTS 640MB ;)

    I had the frame limiter set to variable, maybe I should try fixed and vsync off.

    Edit: Variable means frame limiter is off of course. I tried vsync off, frame rate variable and I got 87 FPS average, but I hate tearing so vsync is a must.

    Variable framerate limiter?

    I would think a GTX285 could deliver a solid 60FPS at 1080p in this game, judging by the looks of it and its console roots. A GTX285 (or any GT200 for that matter) is a lot more powerful than Xenos. What AA level are you using?

    Framerate = variable means the frame limiter is off
    Framerate = fixed means the frame limiter is on

    If the frame limiter is off, vsync is off and the framerate is over 60 FPS the animations speed up, at least in the benchmark.

    I am using the highest settings and 16xCSAAQ at 1920x1200.

    And this is with all settings turned to the highest, and 4xAA. I suppose I might need to tone some effects down to get 'playable' frame rates (even though, IMO, the demo ran pretty smooth already with 23 fps).
