OK. Steam Summer sale. Bioshock series is on sale. I just noticed I didn't have Bioshock 1 and 2 in Steam.

Why is that notable? Bioshock 1 and 2 are being remastered (60 USD for the collection in September) and you get the remastered versions for free if you own the original games on Steam. If you haven't played it before or you had the disk version and not the Steam version. This is a good time to pick it up cheap and get the remastered versions for free.

Speaking of Bioshock, my wife was checking out a great looking game by The Molassis Flood, a new studio made up of several folks from AAA studios, including the Art Director from Bioshock.

    The Flame in the Flood

On sale now for $15 US and looks fantastic in its art style, atmosphere and sound.

Nice. It also includes BioShock Infinite for that $60, I dont know if that is a remaster too or just the same as last released. The remaster treatment might only be for Xbox One collection, since I think those only released on X360 (xbox one was via backwards compat).

Whats changing for the remaster ?
Just read about it and the dev says 1+2 are being remastered infinite isnt because it is already up to remastered standard. If I play bioshock 1 after infinite I dont think its an inferior looking game (although its hard to compare because the games are set in very different environments but an interior in infinite doesnt seem that superior from an interior in bs1)

Updating various things. People are speculating the Audio will be updated so that it doesn't have problems on modern systems. Graphics engine likely be updated to use the same engine as Bioshock Infinite. Going to guess along with that will be lighting, texture and maybe model improvements.

Bioshock 1 and 2 still look decent for being early X360 (and later PS3) games, but it could stand to have a lot of improvement.

I wonder if they'll allow you to keep your original versions for Bioshock 1 and 2 on Steam just for comparisons sake or just for nostalgia. Not a biggie for me as those were some of the last games I got on optical disks.

    SB

Grabbed Transformers Devastation for some sweet nostalgia. Life is Strange because it sounds very good and different. Also American Truck Simulator for chilling out in VR with my new wheel.

Been pretty restrained this sale. Quite proud of myself. :p

edit> oh wait I got The Stanley Parable too. Fun and funny.

Im looking at getting a RTS game from steam, any recommendations?
I downloaded settlers 7 (used to love settlers back in the day) but ubisoft servers wouldnt let me log in to play it (and googling it seems a common complaint), so asked and got a refund.

I'm looking for Something like warlords battlecry 3, settlers, Age of mythology, warcraft 3. I.e. More of a fantasy setting than a tech/realistic setting, single player

8-bit armies is a relatively simple throwback to Command and Conquer made by most of the developers from the old Westwood Studios. They also released Grey Goo which is a pretty decent AAA RTS and it's 66% off during the sale.

There's another decent RTS that was recently released that isn't StarCraft 2, but I can't remember the name of it.

Was gifted Endless Dungeon yesterday. Very addictive rogue-like set in the Endless universe (Endless Legend, Endless Space - both 4X games). I don't normally enjoy rogue type games very much but this one is very entertaining. Also tried multiplayer with a mate on voice chat, it was very good. Almost portal 2-esque in the solving of problems together.

I highly recommend this game, and it's only £3 or so.

Couldnt really see anything. I downloaded divinity original sin, tried it out for ~30mins, gah too much story, If I wanted a story I would read a book or watch a film. Also 4k doesnt seem to give me more viewing area than lesser resolutions. Still I'll try it out in a couple of months when my GF goes to japan

    Just an FYI

IF you use Bing rewards MS is doing a promotion where windows store gift cards are 20% off. So you get $10 worth for 630 points. They are usually 970 credits. I get 250-270 credits a week easily through searching .

The offer goes through August 15th. So you should be able to get $20 or $30 bucks. I have 3 accounts so I'm going to be able to get a couple of the fall xbox one games for free
