State of the working AGP/PCI lock & multiplier on AMD64

VIA
K8T800: no AGP/PCI lock
K8T800Pro: limited AGP/PCI lock - tradeoff: locked multiplier

NVIDIA
nForce3 150: working AGP/PCI lock w/ working multiplier- tradeoff: lower HT speed
nForce3 250: working AGP/PCI w/ working multiplier
nForce3 250Gb: working AGP/PCI w/ working multiplier
nForce3 Ultra: working AGP/PCI w/ working multiplier
nForce3 Pro: N/A

So far it seems VIA has dropped the ball again - did they?

The K8T800Pro does have a full AGP/PCI lock. There are beta bios out there that do this and some have hit over 290 with this chipset.

Really? Which motherboard?

AFAIK as of now there is NO fully working lock w/ fully working multiplier on ANY VIA mobo, running supported BIOS.

Please note, that the VIA K8T800 Pro chipset is supposed to feature an AGP/PCI lock, but it isn't functioning properly at the present time. We've tested two different K8T800 Pro based motherboards from two different vendors so far, and neither has had a working AGP/PCI lock.

So far that's all I found regarding this issue...

The other "must have" that the KV8Pro delivers is the ability to lock the PCI/AGP bus. With past K8 chipsets, the PCI and AGP buses have scaled with the FSB causing the PCI/AGP bus to be a limitation when overclocking. With the new K8T800Pro, we have the ability to "lock" the PCI/AGP bus to a spec 33/66MHz thus removing it from the equation. Overclocking your CPU no longer means OCing the PCI/AGP bus.

Yeah - the only problem it's not true at all, as of now.

It may was working on their reviewer board but nix' on the retail boards. :devilish:

There are ppl in the amdmb fourms that are using the beta bios and have AGP/PCI locks working on the Asus mobo and [H] has reviewed a abit mobo with a beta bios too.

What's this lock you guys are tlaking about?

Are you all talking about locking the AGP/PCI frequencies while overclocking?

yup .

My buddy has a via kt800pro believe its an abit , could not lock them at all.

he has the chaintek board nforce 3 250(69$ at mwave) and it works perfectly. Got my a64 3000+ up to 2.4 ghz before his ram gave out .
