    Huh, using those settings walking around out fine looked reasonable aside from being rather bright in places. but the arena looked like this:

    It also ran absurdly slow, and turning off r2_gi fixed that but gave me the same strange mixture of light and shadow I was talking about before:

    How does the arena look and run with those settings for you?

    r2_allow_r1_lights on with r2_gi_photons 12 takes some perfomance hit, change it to 16 (default) for better fps. I'll have to check the arena but I've not had as intense light as that anywhere so far. I assume though that you did not use my brightness/gamma/contrast settings since those are specific for my monitor!

    Neverthless play with r2_ls_bloom_threshold to reduce the intensity.

    Anyone actually finished the game? Is it worth playing? I have had it sitting on my desk for months already but haven't bothered installing it as of yet.

    Absolutely worth playing! A lot of people can't come to grips with its open ended gameplay but for me it's one of the best FPS's ever made. IMO better than Crysis.

    Still getting around a second per frame in the area with your other settings. Turning off r2_allow_r1_lights makes the arena run considerably better with r2_gi still on, but still a bit rought.
    I did use your settings for the screenshots as I wanted them to be directly comprable to the shots you have posted in this thread, but the issues remain regardless of if I use all of your settings or just enable r2_gi and r2_allow_r1_lights with my own.
    Even turnning off r2_ls_bloom_fast shows the same issues.
    I'm on my fourth playthough, what have you been waiting for?

    Some places take a noticable dip with r1_lights + GI, since GI will apply effect to the added r1 lights. Especially true for the fire at the beginning with all the stalker sitting around. But each one alone it is smooth in that place.

    Oh ok thats why they where so "glowing"! I will check the shadows in the arena (I've not yet there and never went there from the Rad bar in previous game).

    You mean the shadows? Since that variabel is only to reduce the "glowiness".

    I mean the massive glow with and r2_allow_r1_lights enabled at the same time as r2_gi.

    Oh I see but r2_ls_bloom_threshold reduces it on my comp greatly. Higher value means less glow, lower value means more glow. I'll recheck it later.

    Sure, it does the same on mine, and turning R2_ls_bloom_fast off all together reduces it a little more yet. Still insanly bright and slow in the arena with r2_allow_r1_lights and r2_gi enabled at the same time though.

    Just ventured over to the bar with those both on and r2_ls_bloom_threshold at 1, it isn't nearly as bad as the arena but still awful bright.

    Install it!!! Immediately!!! lol

    Possibly the finest single player FPS ever conceived, IMO. Great gameplay, great level design, great storyline, great audio.

    So it's no longer the prettiest game out there, but meh. It still blows Crysis out of the water overall.

    I agree, that it is much better than Crysis. And it will give you much more hours of play as well.

    I have played today Stalker to capture videos with MSAA . A big and awersome shock for my . The IA of this game is increible, better than any other game that I have played. As if the programmers had put to somebody within the exoeskeletor. Very difficult and hard gameplay - and hidden storyline - , hard begining for the gamer - the first mision and the first hours are a complete shock for all gamers - very brave design choices of the gameplay and storyline

    In only 9 months the time revaluated the game and its brave proposal. For my maybe the best FPS or action game in PC since Deus Ex

    The latest forceware has suport for the MSAA in Stalker and deferred shading , from the NV Control Panel [​IMG]


    My drivers are the 169.25 , but found since the 169,xx. Simply is the AA of control panel , override any application seting .

    The perfomance drop is great - 30 % with MSAA 2x , and 50-60 % with MSAA 4X . But the MSAA 2X is usable at high resolution . The Vram usage maybe is a problem with 512 mb videocards , at high resolution and MSAA 4X or with some mods .

    Very very nice update for the game, wiht MSAA 2x is playable at 1080p in one 8800 gtx [​IMG]

    Maybe can will ofer some better MSAA in game by GSC - maybe in DX 10 ?

    Is it really MSAA or SSAA?
    Can you make 3 screenshots (as TGA converted to PNG): no MSAA, 2xMSAA. 4xMSAA, but all three screenhots without AF.

    The inner glowing border on the last image makes me suspect SSAA... I remember having that same 'artifact' back when we were fiddling with SSAA and TSAA on older Radeons.

    Could do without the motion blur though... :wink:
