Splinter Cell

I've been playing the Demo of this awesome game recently and i noticed how amazing the lighting & shadowing is!

So I wonder, what techniques do you guys think are utilized in there? Something along the lines of what DOOM III is doing or something different all together?

The only possible downside are the jaggy shadows...

I think this has been discussed before. It's nothing nearly as revolutionary as Doom 3. It's a collection of various standard approaches like projected textures or projected polygon shadows. Different rooms have different tricks, so the game can give you a variety of effects without having to make them all work together.

What makes it work so well is the great level design and art direction, rather than any special graphics programming skills.
