I'm a Swede too,but sticking to English...
I have a similar problem with my 8500LE and the demo of the game,it locks the game.(reminds me a lot of when I hade a Kyro and Colin McRae2 was very fresh...)
I'd think it'll be solved fairly fast either with a driver update or by a patch.(took about a month for PVR to release new drivers back when...if it's drivers I'm sure ATi will fix it fairly fast....after all most likely a big game saleswise and they wouldn't want to scare off customers....)
Might be something within XP that causes it...I also have WinXP.(rest is XP1900,512 DDR,Hercules Game theater,Via KT333)

 

Taken from their latest readme:

"Need For Speed 2 may potentially hang in very high detail levels. ATI recommends turning down the World Details and Special Effects options down one notch to avoid hangs. A fix will be delivered in a future CATALYST release."

They updated it today.
Another one of the fixes were that Quality Aniso now forces trilinear. (Did they update the actual driver too?)

 

RE: NFS2HP All you have to do to get it working on the 8500 is to turn down Special Effects and Detail level one notch from max. Worked fine for me then.
