Soooo, how about that forum reorganization?

I asked about doing this exact same thing when vBulletin was brought in, but AFAIK this customisation can't be done as standard. What's really needed is like an unsubscribe function for standard forums (ie the exact reverse of the Politics forum), but it doesn't work that way.

 

If you guys want to do the work/research to find a vb mod compatible with 3.6 to do whatever the heck you'd like to see done, by all means you are welcome to bring it to our attention.

Doesn't mean we'd be willing to do it, of course --just that we'd be willing to take a look-see and consider it.

 

Well you could make all the forums ones you have to subscribe to when you first log in, so people can simply not sub to the ones they don't want to see in their "new posts" listing.

 

Exactly the same reason why I stopped visiting the front page and going directly into the forums.

 

Here you go, instead of using "New Posts", use this "New Posts (Non Console)".

Just add the Forum Id to the exclusion list (exclude=#). Or if you're interested in only a subset of forums use "New Posts (Site News)".

I dont know of any personalization plugins that make this available via the User Control Panel, but this is doable from the user's side...

This one is a nice one, especially for the moderators: vBISpy - AJAX real-time feed of new posts/threads.

Separate Sticky/FYI and Normal Threads makes things look a little cleaner too.

It looks like this is very alpha-esque stages, but this mod might just turn out to be useful once it stabilizes - Subscribed/Favorite Forums Module

First the new order of things, then the no underlining thing... I actually clicked on the wrong forums a few times... I think i had stopped reading where i clicked a long time ago, i just knew where things were and now i've gone into the 3D Hardware Forum by mistake... It was scary, the worst 2 minutes of my life... All those strange threads about things that only exist in other people's minds... I think i even posted there.

I can't do this anymore!! I've had it!! I want to cancel my club membership!! I want my money back!! All of it!!

It took you 2 minutes to understand that the B3D crew decided to change the nature and focus of the forum from General to 3D, or it took you that long to Google for the word 3D and why this unusual term is associated with Beyond3Dee?

looked a bit more compact at the top, it's probably just my eyes tricking me. It's not that the general forums were moved to the bottom. It looks a little more compact than after that happened.
