And I never understood management's occasional rumination that a lot of visitors don't peruse the front page more often. Umm, guys. . .content. B3D's staff now appears to be large enough that one person can be assigned to post news on the latest, most pertinent happenings in the graphics market. No Inq links, though, please.

Just a thought/suggestion. Something I've long thought would help the site's front page.

Recently the frontpage has kicked it up a notch with the number of new news postings, which I like. I've always had the frontpage as my portal to B3D, from the front I clicked into the forums, never know when something knew will be up there.

Ditto. The only direct-to-forum link I use is here at work where I generally just want to get on and check the latest postings before logging off. Otherwise, it's always the frontpage for me.

    Forum front page

    Site front page

Sorry. It's an old, old, old joke of mine that just never dies. Every forum I'm active on I joke about how I never notice the site having a front page 'cause I just go straight to the forums. ;)

Since Beyond3D has a front page now, when will EliteBastards have one?

    sub-subforums suck IMHO.

What for !? Make all "forums" on one level, whats the point of having one forum 1cm to the left, then 2 with 1cm to the right !?

After all, any changes to the front page get announced in the forum anyway

Rys told me he has succeeded hacking into WinXP/IE, Firefox and Mozilla to :

    1) forward to the site's front page any "home page" URLs pointing to the forums
    2) forward to the site's front page any "bookmarks/favourites" URLs pointing to the forums

but that he'd make an exception for me when he finally implements it. Rys is a far more l33t hacker than a 3D programmer, you know.

The reason I go directly to the forums is that, in the past, if I didn't do this the "new posts" function would not work correctly.

I am sure, in the past, yours is but one reason.

I'm sure if, in the past, that if that had worked correctly, you would've visited the site's front page before you did its forum, right?

This may be hard to believe, but my original bookmark did in fact go to the front page (prior to either a change to the site or my browser).

Now, of course, if you asked me, "would I change back" my answer may be "no comment"

Overall the new organization looks good.
The addition of "3D Beginner´s Question" and "Purchase Decision Help" are welcome.

    Holy board moving, Batman!

It took me a while to re-adjust to the new order. You guys have to tell us BEFORE you do these things! Do you have any idea how traumatic that was, to come here and see no General Forum, only to find it at the bottom!!? I don't think i will get over this shock for a couple of weeks.

I'm with lb, im completely lost now, where do I go??? my sense of order is a shambles, the B3D forums is now a maelstrom of chaos in my mind that I must provide coherence! oh well, it will come in time, do not fear my poor mind....

Things like this just take a little time to adjust to. I'm sure that in a week or so everyone who was used to the old layout will agree that this new layout is better.

Every since the change to vBulleting I've been almost exclusively using the user control panel to see any new posts in subscribed threads, and then hitting "new posts" to see what has been going on in all the forums at once. It's actually a lot more convenient than navigating to each forum and sub-forum.

I'd do this as well but I'm tired of seeing all the console threads, they are an eye sore for the most part. If there was a way I knew of to customize this list then I'd be grand.
